Why should we stop using oil/gas?

i was just wondering why you think we should stop using oil/gas?Why should we stop using oil/gas?
Because it's a finite resource. Eventually we are going to run out. I would rather start slowing down the use of it now then wait until there is none left and we don't have any alternatives. Society would breakdown completely. Why should we stop using oil/gas?
we have to buy it from hostile foreign powers

it is bad for the environment

it helps make the fatcats fatter
We cannot. We are a petroleum based economy. It is not feasible.
Only the liberals should stop using oil and gas.
we will run out eventually, until then perhaps we should worry about efficiency.
it will help our earth and once it is gone it is gone

How can I stop oil coming through plaster from Denzo tape?

I recently had a new central heating system installed and the pipes were chased in to the wall. The plumbers merchants advised covering the pipes with Denzo tape to prevent any potential corrosion to the copper. The wall was then plastered and emumulsioned, but the oil from the Denzo tape keeps seeping through the paint.

I have tried covering in damp sealant, oil based gloss paint and several coats more of emmulsion and gradually the oil still seeps through and stains the wall.

Any suggesstions of how I can prevent this would be much appreciated.

ThanksHow can I stop oil coming through plaster from Denzo tape?
try asking the plumber who told you to use that kind of tape. How can I stop oil coming through plaster from Denzo tape?
Denzo tape is a nightmare! It sounds like you have tried the oil based paints but how about lining paper, oil based undercoat for wood and see how it goes before puting the emulsion on? I would use the best lining paper you can get like Wallrock Fibre Liner..

Failing that, if its a small bit of wall then your last option is to get some plasterboard put up..
There is an alcohol based liquid containing shellac called';stopping';, it is painted over the area, and prevents further migration.

Bought in 1/2 pint bottles, it is easy to apply. and WORKS

This reminds me like the real estate bubble economy.

What's go around will come around....How can we stop oil bidders from bidding ridiculously high prices?
You can't stop them, it's a free country. If you do try to stop them, then others will complain that only big oil companies are allowed to make money on oil.

The gov't could put disincentives in place, like higher capital gains taxes, but then you hurt the entire market. Plus, if you want that, you might as well move to Cuba, where they are openly socialist.

The market needs to correct itself. Once people stop buying gas guzzlers b/c of gas prices, manufacturers will build more efficient cars requiring less oil. It's just now starting to happen, but it will probably take a few years to realize it.

The US has had extremely low gas prices for years. Now, the market is correcting itself,..... as it should.

If we really wanted to continue getting good oil prices, we would force our gov't to let us explore/drill for oil locally. But, too many people don't want that. They want to let foreigners do it for us.

    denzo tape! thats bad advice.

denzo tape is good for protecting pipes in the ground. any sort of tape would have been fine to protect your pipes.

i really can see any other solution than hacking it all out and starting again or hacking off the plaster and use sand and cement first over the pipes before the plaster

Who wants to nationalize oil refinery and stop oil and gas speculation?

A difficult matter to talk about is getting people to accept that we have to peg down the price of gas, by govt. being able to mandate the price of gas. High gas prices paralyzes the economy. It is so obvious this is what the country needs. Who cares of whose brainchild it is. Just save the America from Inflation and the weak dollar.Who wants to nationalize oil refinery and stop oil and gas speculation?
Nationalizing an industry has never stopped speculation. It's called 'The black market'.Who wants to nationalize oil refinery and stop oil and gas speculation?
what are they teaching you kids?

government fiddling causes inflation (like raising the minimum wage).

are you aware that all life on earth ends if we remove the co2 from the atmosphere?

if government would stop restricting business now, gas would be two bucks a gallon in a week. perhaps less if they would also lift the oppressive taxes.
Social security is nationalized and it's broke. Since Harry Reid, Senate Majority Leader, doesn't want us to pump oil, then nationalizing oil is a great idea. In no time, the government will bankrupt the industry. Horses and buggies will make a comeback.
Yes, our government does such a remarkable job at running everything else, we should put them in charge of oil.
    More government?

Eff that. For the people, by the people.
Ah, so socialization is the way out of an economic crunch?

Because it's worked SO WELL in the past right?

    not.
Communists and nitwits... oh yeah, so do the Democrats.
    if we nationalize oil

    what will be next?
    1. The high cost of oil is from exploration and production. Refining margins are acutally very low right now. Nationalizing refineries would not help.

    2. To save America from inflation and the weak dollar, the government (federal reserve) has to raise interest rates. This is a direct correlation yet the federal reserve has been trying to bail out housing speculators by reducing the interest rate.

    3. The reason people speculate in oil and gas is that it is profitable. If you only get 3% interest on your savings from the federal reserve you should put your money in oil where you can make 10%. If you made 8% interest on your savings from the federal reserve you wouldn't need to speculate on oil.
it's not that simple or i would be all for it. gas is 12 cents in venezuela, a fledgling socialist state. good for them. of course here in america things would be much different. there would be mounds of regulations with associated costs. since the government cannot actually operate the business, huge multinational corporations would be hired to operate the new business, possibly haliburton (or Exxon), with a no bid contract. at the end of the day, gas would cost the average american consummer $4 - $5 per gallon, perhaps $6. then, of course, due to corruption and various payoff, we could never be certain of the purity (remember how they sold tainted water to the troops in iraq?).

with this in mind, i'd say let's just let it be. sure, you'll have to eventually sell that split-level in the 'burbs and move into the slums outside the factory you work in, but 'them's the breaks.' that's how we started out.
You want the government to ruin I mean run the oil companies lol thats a hot one. Look here Hugo Chavez the price of gas is high because the left wont let us drill. The left and the enviromental wacko partners has stop the refining building and the building of nuclear. That would bring the high price of gas down. Gas companies make less profit then the pharmecutical companies yet I hear no one complaining there. Tell your democrat cohorts to eliminate the tax on gas state and federal. THat will lower your price of a gallon of gas.
When you figure out that the media (in bed with the government) is hiding what is really causing high prices of oil and gas - IS THE FEDERAL RESERVE DEVALUING THE DOLLAR - WHICH OIL IS TRADED IN - the reason we have high gas prices is because it takes more DOLLARS to pay for it. The federal reserve is to blame. The media knows this and they don't report on it. They play dumb.

Watch a little movie called ';Fiat Empire: Why the Federal Reserve violates the Constitution'; to learn more.

    DOWN WITH THE FED
I dont think it would work. It would just be digging ourselves an even deeper hole. How about instead of spending so much time and resources to make gas cheaper, we work on creating more sustainable life styles. We can no longer have out heads in the sand thinking that things will change for the better without us doing anything. The Us people can not keep on living the way we do... there needs to be a major shift in the way we live, or else we are going to be in deep s h i t.
I don't. The word nationalization is BAD. That means the government can control it. Which is bad. And socialistic. Here's a thought, let's produce more oil so we don't have to deal with the insane prices of OPEC. The government doesn't need to set prices for oil, and you're dead wrong. You're such a pessimist. Try believing in America and democracy. And it's not obvious to you what the country needs. Because socialism doesn't work, and that's exactly what you're pitching.

Socialism is BAD. Hugo Chavez is BAD. I'm trying to say this in a way that might make sense to you. If we produce our own oil, then we

    a) Don't have to resort to socialist practices (Bonus Points!)

    b) Don't have to deal with OPEC

    c) Keep our freedom and our money.
Oil and gasoline are commodities and are trades on a world market. The US government can't change that, and it can't enact laws that control foreign markets. There is no way the US can outlaw speculation.

If the government puts a cap on gasoline prices, Exxon and the rest will just sell it to China at the higher price.

The government could try to subsidize gas prices, but that would mean raising taxes to cover the subsidies. The tax payers end up paying for it anyway. In that case we haven't accomplished anything.

The answer is to produce more oil and gasoline domestically. Supply goes up, prices go down, profits stay in the US, and we collect taxes on the profits. Our trade deficit will be reduced, inflation will go down, and the dollar will be stronger. It really is that simple.
I do believe that's the only solution at this point.

';For decades, politicians, corporate leaders and the media have subjected the world’s people to the self-serving claim that the capitalist market is the most rational means of allocating society’s resources. What is now being revealed is the basic conflict between the needs of a modern mass society and the anarchy of the profit system.

It is impossible to ascertain any truthful estimates of remaining global supplies, because the oil producing countries and energy conglomerates have vested interests in concealing their “business secrets” from the people. Entrenched corporate and political opposition has also largely squelched large-scale development of environmentally safe and sustainable alternatives, although the technology has existed, in some cases, for decades.

Supposed solutions produced within the framework of the capitalist system have only worsened the crisis. The development of bio-fuels is a case in point. Even if one were to accept the widely disputed claims that bio-fuels are a means of reducing carbon emissions, their production has only led to a massive increase in the price of corn and other crops, wreaking havoc throughout the world. The entire project has been tied to the interests of agri-business monopolies, such as ADM and Cargill, which have an overriding concern, not in ending global warming, but boosting their bottom lines.

    The rational use of remaining petroleum resources and the development of genuine alternatives require an unprecedented level of international cooperation and the marshalling of the world’s technological, material and human resources. This is not possible as long as capitalism divides the globe into competing nation states, each vying for advantage over the other.';
Keith Olbermann delivered a special report Wednesday on the ';Enron loophole'; -- a regulatory gap that is the single greatest cause of out-of-control gasoline prices -- and how McCain's leading advisors created that loophole and continue to defend it.

People who deal in oil routinely use ';futures'; -- agreements in advance on prices and delivery dates -- to deal with fluctuations in the market. However, deregulation has allowed commodity speculators to take over this system of futures and use it for their own profit, running up the price of oil in a speculative bubble.

According to Olbermann, the story of $4 a gallon gas begins during the presidency of George H.W. Bush, when former Enron CEO Ken Lay started speculating on energy futures. The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) gave Enron free rein, and when Bill Clinton was elected in 1992, CFTC Chairwoman Wendy Gramm moved to lock in the commission's informal position on Enron as official policy. Gramm then joined Enron's board of directors, earning more than $900,000 over the next decade.

    In December 2000, during the chaos following the presidential election, Enron got a law passed containing an amendment known as the ';Enron loophole,'; deregulating not just single trades but entire markets. This made it possible for Enron to artificially create the California energy crisis -- and left Enron employees chortling over how they had ****** over ';Grandma Millie.';

    The Enron loophole applied not just to electricity, but to all energy sources, which is why speculators have now been able to take over the oil market. Two weeks ago, the Senate Commerce Committee heard testimony from a former CFTC director that ';the speculators are not just placing bets in these futures markets, they're saying, 'Gosh, I can control the price of heating oil.' ... Morgan Stanley is the biggest heating oil owner in New England.';

    If the Enron loophole is removed, said this director, ';you get at least a 25% drop in the cost of oil ... some people estimate 50%.';

John McCain voted to close the Enron loophole in 2002 and 2003, saying at the time that ';we're all tainted'; by Enron's money. But, notes Olbermann, ';for most of this campaign, McCain has offered explanations other than the influence of speculators, and remedies other than regulation.'; If the Enron loophole is not closed, even alternative energy sources will do little to reduce prices, because speculators will be able to immediately take those over as well.

    ';John McCain doesn't talk about the Enron loophole any more,'; reports Olbermann. ';What changed? Since 2006, John McCain's top economic advisor has been former Texas Senator Phil Gramm, husband of the former CFTC head who then joined Enron.';

    ';It was Graham who passed the Enron loophole ... with no hearings, no debate,'; Olberman emphasizes. ';It was Graham who stopped Democrats from closing the Enron loophole. ... Graham lobbied Congress about commodity trading rules in 2006.';

In addition, McCain's senior advisor, Charlie Black, was a lobbyist for the act containing the Enron loophole in 2000, and McCain's finance co-chair, Wayne Berman, has lobbied more recently against legislation to prevent price gouging.

Olbermann acknowledges that McCain is now saying, ';We must reforms the laws and regulations governing the oil futures market.'; However, McCain has not yet specifically mentioned the Enron loophole, and he still has Gramm and Berman and Black running his campaign and writing his economic policies

As said above, oil pressure fluctuates with engine rpm. You should be reading anywhere from around 30 to 40 psi at idle and 50 to 60 at speed. Oil pressure switches wear out or break, oil pumps can get weak, and also make sure you keep that oil changed. The best way to tell is to have a mechanic use a manual guage to double check oil pressure. good luck! Why dooes my oil guage go down when i come to a stop in my 1996 jeep cherroke?
i hate to be the one to tell you but your going to find that the only fix is going to be a new engine. on the 4.0L the cam bearings go bad and causes your problem. ive put at least 2 engines in jeeps after the customer tried the oil pressure switch. a rebuild kit will not help you. it needs to be a remain or new motor. remember you are on borrowed time. keep the rpms down. good luck
that happened to me in my 2000 wrangler sport. when the engine heats up, the oil becomes thinner and that could be one of the causes. i changed the oil in mine and the problem went away. i would suggest checking your oil and possibly changing it.
The oil gauge measures pressure.... when you're decelerating or at a complete stop, it's less pressure. Nothing to worry about.
You could have a bad oil pressure switch. My wrangler had a similar problem, but I changed that switch and the problem was solved.
it will go down a little at idle if it is dropping way down change the oil pressure sending switch it worked for mine 270,000 miles on it and still has good oil pressure

Do you think it's fare to stop Africans from coming to US while we go and take away their oil and gold?

I mean how can we be taking away what belongs to them and enrich our country and still tell them to stay back there in poverty?Do you think it's fare to stop Africans from coming to US while we go and take away their oil and gold?
we need African gold and oil to support the illegals in America...I promise. just as soon as we remove the illegals we will stop ';taking'; African resources.Do you think it's fare to stop Africans from coming to US while we go and take away their oil and gold?
    Absolutely.
If the governments controlling the oil and gold in Africa are giving it away, you should probably go complain to them. Why not repost your question and direct it to the government where we are supposedly stealing oil and gold. I'm sure they are on Yahoo Answers looking to answer your questions.
We don't TAKE their oil and gold. We pay for it.
Uh, I'm pretty sure someone is being paid for the oil and gold. Perhaps you should go to the source of the problem with Africa -- the corrupted leaders who keep all the money for themselves and starve their own people and allow them to die from disease, famine, and war.

And seriously, what are we going to do? Take all the the world's poor into our country? Please grow up and be practical.
Your not being specific enough. I though we paid for the oil, which army did we use to take it from you?
i don't think there are many things our government does that are right.
I believe we pay a market price for anything we take, and the people applying for admission have no ownership rights their own government would accept as to that oil and gold. Also, the people who get the benefit of any oil deals are not the people who would be paying for the schools and other services poor immigrants use.

However, what I think is unfair is that people coming illegally from other countries so swamp our services that there is no tolerance for expanding immigration from countries where people come here legally.

There is a major imbalance between those who benefit from immigration of unskilled labor and those who pay the costs for it. Until that is addressed, I don't see the issue going away.
Um, I'm pretty sure the governments of those countries where companies are getting resources get paid pretty well. Why don't you talk to your government instead, and find out what they did with the money? Hmmm....the sooner america's energy-independent, the better off we'll be...
give one citable example where the US is forceably taking oil and minerals from African countries? I won't hold my breath. But such is the mind of a chimp like you.
    Yes.

  • Liquid to stop Oil Leaks?

I have a 94 Chevy 1500 and when i start it, it smokes white and smeels like burnt oil, and my dad said it was the valve seals leaking. Ive seen stuff advertised on the SPEED channel that is suppossed to stop leaks. I guess there are a few different types. Does anyoe know if any of that stuff works and where i could find some?Liquid to stop Oil Leaks?
this is the way it works, if your valve seals are going or bad it will smoke all if not most of the time, and a heavier oil may help alittle but more like not at all, and it may burn less after the start up but if seals are bad they are bad, and not much you can do but replace em, and valve seals can be replaced right on the car, no need to pull the heads or the motor, but if its not burning oil all the time or most of the time, its not it.

if it smokes on first starts of the day or only after it has been setting long anuff to cool down, and this is what i think it is as you said that you did over heat the truck once doe to a head gaskets, the rings are going.

what happens is when you start your motor up it builds heat and the ring expand stopping it from burning oil, and because the rings are so deep in the motor they hold heat for along time so it wont smoke again tell the next day or it has been setting for long enuff to cool down throw out the motor.

a heavier oil may help alittle, and you can add Lucas to your next oil change, and again this may help alittle, but in time they will have to be replaced.Liquid to stop Oil Leaks?
When the heads were pulled, that's when the valve guides and seals should of been checked for wear and hardness of the seals.
Yeah it does work but it will gunk up your engine in time and then you will could end up having to get the head gasket replaced.
I had a GMC mini van. The mechanic told me it was normal for this engine to blow smoke on start up but should be gone after a few seconds. I had a 4.3 liter engine in a 1990 GMC Safari van and it did this. He said it was just a start up thing but it didn't happen until we had hit about 75 K on it. He said the seals were dry and needed to get the oil up there before it would quit. Sold it after 17 years with 92K on it and never really had an engine problem.

Most everything else went to crap but not the engine itself. Sounds like you have had a pretty good vehicle over the years. Depends on what you want to put into it. I use Maxlife oil ( think is is Valvoline brand) in my current 2000 GMC Truck ( basically a Chevy 1500) Have some ';dieseling ';on start up but after about 40 seconds it goes away.

Hope you aren't in need of a re-build so close to deer season.

    I wish you luck
Ahhh Instant Engine overhaul in a bottle! my brother who is a mechanic told me about htis sh it and he says it works, so what the heck try it! cant hurt! he did it to his grand prix and was amazed really!
I hate to say this but your Chevy has no valve seals. The large tin looking umbrellas around the top of the valve springs are Chevrolet's poor excuse for valve ';shields'; Your valve guides are most likely worn. They can be repaired by drilling them oversize and pressing in hardened steel or bronze wall guides. It's too bad this wasn't checked when the heads were off.

Valve guide problems are pinpointed when a running engine quickly decelerates. Blue smoke will come out of the exhaust because the vacuum created in the cylinders actually suck oil down the valve guides from the valve cover area.
    What field is hyromatics?
Since it is smoking white at start up that usually is a tell tale sign that the valve guides are worn. Liquid in a can will not fix this problem. The reason being is when you start up the engine when it is cold it leaks oil into the cylinders. Then once the engine is up and running it heats up and takes up the wear in the valve guides because of heat expansion and it doesn't smoke as bad or not at all. The best thing to do to get a little more time out of it is to, install a hotter set of plugs and use a heavier weight of oil. Like if you running 5w-30 try running 10w-40 or 30 weight, or 15w-40. Rotella oil is good thing to think about in these weights and doesn't break down as easy. since the oil is thincker it will not leak through the guides as bad as a lighter weight oil would. plus it will not gunk up your motor. The only down fall is you need to let your rig warm up a little longer if it is cold out. This just ensures you get the proper lubrication to all areas of the motor. Also recomend the hotter plug to be an ACDELCO brand. Have had lot better luck with the factory brand than other plugs like bosch, champion, motorcraft ect. Hope I helped out a little. THANKS JEFF

How can i stop my car from spilling oil?

my car is spilling oil from the bottom were the screw goes

its on tight and i don't wanna tighten any more so it don't break

how can i stop it from spilling.?How can i stop my car from spilling oil?
there is supposed to be a nylon washer to seal the drain plug and you probably lost it How can i stop my car from spilling oil?
    have the oil pan replaced
there usually is a small gasket or plastic ring that goes on with the oil plug sometimes, and that will make them leak from the oil plug you may have to drain the oil and replace the gasket on it,good luck.
if it,s leaking from the oil pan gasket and you tightened the bolts as tight as you can get them then you probably have to change the pan gasket.

Is synthetic oil worth the price? Also, is there p/s fluid that will stop the whining?

I was wondering about the benifits of synthetic oil. The steering pump on my t-bird is louder than the engine. i changed the fluid and that helped a little, is there a special kind of p/s fluid i can get to stop it from whining? Is synthetic oil worth the price? Also, is there p/s fluid that will stop the whining?
    1) Unless your car manufacturer recommended Synthetic oil, you are wasting money using it.

2)there are some Power Steering additives that may help, however, I believe they will only delay the inevitable replacing of the pump.

With that said, use whatever oil you feel best, and meets or exceeds the service grade for your engine. I use Synthetic in my BMW but that's what came in it.

Even though I can't give the power steering additives a great review, I would probably buy a pint and put it in, if it worked great, if not , I'm not out much either. Is synthetic oil worth the price? Also, is there p/s fluid that will stop the whining?
Fords have been plagued with noisy power steering pumps for a very long time. I would flush and fill it with Mobil 1 synthetic.

    - Empty as much fluid from the reservoir as possible

    - Pull the fuel pump relay

    - Remove the return line from the power steering reservoir (mine didn't want to come off so I cut it off since I had plenty of slack in the hose), make sure you have shop towels under the line

    - Place a small length of hose over the opening in the reservoir and clamp shut

    - Place the return line in a clear length of hose run to a bucket, 5/8'; inside diameter will fit tightly without the need for a clamp

    - Raise the front wheels on jackstands

    - While you get ready to pour new ATF into the reservoir, have your helper crank the engine while turning the wheels from stop to stop. Do not hold the wheel against the stops for more than 3 seconds. Also since the starter motor is being used do not crank more than 15 seconds at a time and give it a 1 minute rest in between.

    - Watch the fluid coming out, once it is clear of old fluid stop cranking and reassemble

    - Refill fluid to proper level

    - Make sure you purge the air out of the system, I made the mistake of going for a test drive before purging and it sounded like the engine was coming apart.

    - To purge lower the wheels on the ground, start the engine and turn the wheels back and forth quickly but do not hit the stops.

    - Stop the engine and refill the reservoir to proper level, repeat until the fluid does not drop anymore.
Synthetic oil is worth the price, I'm not sure about your other problem though.
This is actually a known things with fords....., change the fluid a few times (since just once won't get it all out) and see how it affects it, I doubt the noise will go away with syn..... great stuff but not a miracle worker
I've had that sound on a few of the Fords I've owned. My only cure was to trade them off.

It could be low of fluid, but if its' a newer car, it's in the pump and the cure is to replace the pump$$$.

Are you using Ford power steering fluid? You need to exclusively.

Does Stop oil leak additive actually work?

I have a minor oil leak like a few drips every couple of hours and I can't figure out where it is coming from I am tired of adding oil every month. Does that stop oil leak additive stuff actually work for a minor leak like mine? Does it hurt the engine itself? How do you use the stuff? In case you are curious the leak is coming from somewhere on the bottom half of the engine in the rear looks like rear main seal but I know it isn't because I had it replaced 2 weeks ago. I can't tell exactly where the leak originates from because its hitting the flywheel and its slinging it everywhere under the truck.Does Stop oil leak additive actually work?
Your motor oil is suppose to get into every little cracks and channels to liubricate moving parts (like small space between the piston and wall, rods and crankshafts, etc.)

The STOP leaks are design to STOP the oil from getting into small cracks (assuming that is where the leak is). The problem is that it blocks oil circulations indiscriminately.

I would NOT use it. I rather live with the leak.

Good Luck...Does Stop oil leak additive actually work?
With the advances the chemical industries have made some things will work. I have two circumstances where it did, a jeep aw4 trans front seal and dodge 5.2L rear main and no harmful side afects. If its oil put it in the oil if its trans fluid put it in there many times the stuff only works when it sees air or temp change ie a leak. go ahead it can't hurt or the company would be bankrupt and drowning in lawsuits. Buyer beware some is snake oil.
my oldsmobile leaks a little bit too but i,am not putting that junk in my engine. if the rear main is leaking then you can put anything you want in it and it won,t stop it because there is a lot of pressure there.
It all depends on the size and location of the leak if its a small leak let's say the corner of a valve cover or the timing cover it can work for a period of time. It thickens the oil.
I myself don't like stuff like that they seal things that should not be sealed.

The sealer goes hard and can damage other parts.

Just because you have done the rear main does'nt mean it is still not leaking.
If its a chevy small block, check the distributor seal ontop of the engine. It leaks and runs down and looks like a main seal leak.
Yes, -- but it depends on how big the leak is! Sounds like it will probbly work in this instance, -- unless you have a cut or cracked seal where parts are moving (like crank or camshaft seals)-- No it is not magic! The chemical reaction causes a little stuff to clot up, just like a puncture wound in your skin,-- and as you know ther are places where too much flexing of skin occours to allow scab to remain on wound!

Product called ';no leak'; which is widely distributed (I buy at WalMart),-- has done really good results for me for a while now, -- though there are a lot of others that do good too! I just use this because of availability, and price, - costs less than $7 a bottle (I think). Have sealed up leaks in last 5 Chev and Ford products quite well and in my Chev truck has lasted for almost 60K now!

';Repair in a bottle'; is a whole lot cheaper and faster than taking engine apart and changing seals and gaskets till you find probelm!

Another place you might look is at oil pressuree sending unit, -- they quite often get leaks out the top of the unit where wire plugs on, -- if it is one up on top,- and rear of engine it is very hard to see, -- possibly might need flashlight,- and look at night to concentrate light where you need it!
Step one was it leaking before you put in the rear main? if yes then take it back they may have messed up and will fix it for free. the old seal will actually wear down the block over time so if they put it in the same place it WILL leak. you could also have them do a ';clean and die'; basically they clean the engine and put in a neon die that shows up with black light and find exactly where the leak is.

if it was not them that did it you could always run a thicker oil. i wouldn't recommend it but i have see it done and it works but you could have the same effect as using the stop leak and oil starve the engine.

Will the economy of the us collapse if Venezuela stops suppling oil to the us?

Venezuela made an agreement to enhance supply of oil to china and its president Chavez threatened that it would stop supply of oil to the us.Will the economy of the us collapse if Venezuela stops suppling oil to the us?
Ha, not at all, but the economy of Venezuela might collapse. Oil is a fungible commodity, meaning the buyers and sellers would just swap around and the market would slightly reorganize itself. If Chavez sold to country X instead of to the U.S., the the U.S. could simply buy from whoever was previously supplying to country X. Get it? No difference as long as the total amount of oil supplied is the same.

Now the only problem is that I've read that Venezuelan oil is very low quality crap, and only the U.S. has the refineries necessary to refine it into usable gasoline and other products. Not sure if that's true, but if so, that means Chavez has no choice but to sell to us if he wants any money at all because no one else could take it.

Will the economy of the us collapse if Venezuela stops suppling oil to the us?
I agree with Kevin and I have heard few other refineries can turn Venezuelan oil into gasoline. It may be hard to tell from India, but Chavez is more bluster than effective. His bluster is listened to more in Venezuela where he controls the media than the rest of the free world where his leadership has soap opera qualities. His influence is felt more with his immediate neighbors with countries much poorer than his. He projects a sense of grandeur and it may assist his country in the end by getting it more attention, but he is having some problems in Venezuela itself that he is seeking to evade.

The US has the largest economy in the world. If it collapses, the world's economy implodes. It won't be the first time. Maybe we need this destruction so that a beautiful phoenix can arise from the ashes. Maybe I'm dreaming.
well maybe that would be enough to wake america up about domestic drilling but if not it would just make gas prices shoot up

If the Middle East stopped producing oil, how would the US economy be affected?

im doin a report on future affects of how stoppage of oil from the middle east countries would affect our economy, any opinions would be appreciated, also it's a controversial question thats been on my mind. Also what other kinds of alternative fuels could we turn to? thanks! If the Middle East stopped producing oil, how would the US economy be affected?
The United States actually gets very little oil from the Middle East, even today. Most Middle Eastern oil goes to Europe. But, if the Arabs turned off the gas, those European countries would be looking for alternative sources of supply, including ours. So, the price would rise significantly, and we probably would have to switch quickly to use more coal and natural gas.

People often complain about our increasing dependence on foreign oil, but that's short-sighted. A policy of ';buy Saudi'; means they'll be drained before we will. And, when all that's left is under us, it will be our government telling everyone else to go find their own barrel.

Which is fine with me.If the Middle East stopped producing oil, how would the US economy be affected?
The answer is far from correct but the asker needs to be intelligent enough to see that. Report Abuse

The country would be in severe straits for quite a few years. The US depends on oil for transportation, The current alternative energy solutions do nothing to support transportation. It would take the nation a minimum of 5 years and probably more like 10-15 to get anywhere near where we were much less with where we needed to be.

By that time, much of our industry would have collapsed, the guvmint gone bankrupt and citizens living in rags off what they and their neighbors could raise in their backyard. The only saving grace would be that the entire world would be in the same boat.
Then we would be forced to buy more oil from the North Sea, Mexico, South America, and domestic sources.

The Middle East produces only about one third of the global oil supply. The other two thirds would easily pick up the slack if the Middle East cut off its supply.

The United States froze all Japanese assets in the United States, cuttin of their main supply of oil and forcing them into war on June 24, 1941.Does anyone know when the United States stopped selling oil to Japan?
You need to use the word ';embargo'; in your search. A normal question on the search line will get lots of results. Only took me 15 seconds to find the exact date.

Nivea Young do a really good moisturiser that mattifies the skin so if you use that before applying your make up it really helps. I also love Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder, works really well and is fairly cheap.
yes. i use maybelline fresh matte, it's a compact powder foundation. I've used it for years. It gives good coverage, you don't need to use foundation with it.
I personally like Stila pressed powder. I also suggest you try blotting paper, you can blot throughout the day and just press lightly over your face if you have applied makeup without worrying about smudging. check out sephora
    definatly mineral maeup/fondation..

alot of brands make it, its made from natural ingrediants and does oil up the skin its just a powder but has enough coverage to be a fondation :)

2001 Chevy Cavalier check oil light comes on when I come to a stop, then turns off when I press gas pedal?!?!?

I have a 2001 Chevy Cavalier.I have checked the oil (on a weekly basis) since buying it,but recently a strange problem has started. Most of the time when the car has been running for 10-15 minutes and I have the air conditioner on the oil light will come on as I'm driving and then come to a complete stop.It will sometimes flash and at other times stay on steadily. As soon as I press the gas to accelerate, the check oil light will go off. What on Earth could cause such a strange thing to happen? I know that I will need new brake pads soon and maybe even a new caliper for the front left brake......could this have anything to do with this??2001 Chevy Cavalier check oil light comes on when I come to a stop, then turns off when I press gas pedal?!?!?
No, it has nothing to do with the brakes,

there is a oil pressure sensor that keeps tabs on the actual pressure the oil pump is pumping.

So if it is coming on when you slow down 1 or more is happening.

    1. your oil is to thick or thin to be pumped. changer your oil)

    2. The sensor is going bad and when you slow down

the decreased pressure is causeing it to come on too soon.

    3. Your oil pump is failing (worn) and is losing pressure when you slow down.

    4. your main bearings are worn out and the pressure is not building up the way it should be.

    5. the screen on the bottom of the oil pump is almost stopped up with sludge.

When your A/C is on the engine runs hotter and the oil thins out a bit.

The first thing I would do , is simply change my oil and filter and make sure you use the correct oil and filter.

    Then change the sensor itself.

these two are the cheapest to do.

The oil pump and main bearings are major.......2001 Chevy Cavalier check oil light comes on when I come to a stop, then turns off when I press gas pedal?!?!?
Raven E has hit it just right that is the perfect answer for this question follow the steps in that order
i don't think your brakes would have anything to do with it, but with a cavalier it wouldn't suprise me. they made those cars to keep the mechanics busy. but it could be you have a gasket problem and the oil is leaking or it's time for a oil change.
If you are certain that the oil level is OK, it is most likely one of these two items.

Most GM cars have a sensor in the oil pan that monitors the oil level in the pan. This sensor may be failing

The second possibility is that the oil pressure sending unit is failing.

It is very unlikely that it has anything to do with your worn brake pads. Just a coincidence.
Your brake pads might ahve something to do with this in the sense that your wiring might be crossing causing the OIL light to go on instead of the brake light, id get your electronics checked out first before looking into oil pumps and such
Could be as simple as the oil is low. by pressing the gas your moving the oil up against the sensor. Or a bad sensor.

    Add a little more oil

And don't worry the brakes have no interaction with the oil.
sounds like your oil pump may be going

My lawn mower's oil goes ';black'; really fast. Can I slow/stop this process?

I have an older push mower. About a month ago, I changed the oil (which looked disgusting, thicker than choc syrup), and after two cuts, it looks like choc syrup again! Can anybody explain what makes oil go from ';honey'; to ';chocolate'; and how I can slow this down? Thanks. My lawn mower's oil goes ';black'; really fast. Can I slow/stop this process?
That's a normal thing.Because it is mixing with old oil and circulating thru a dirty engine block. My lawn mower's oil goes ';black'; really fast. Can I slow/stop this process?
Not totally correct.... there is, maybe a ounce or residual oil left in the case..... that one ounce will barely cause the oil to change color.... this comes from changing many a mower's oil....., most blacker then black Report Abuse

It sounds like you're using a non dedergent motor oil which could account for the thickness and black color. Try switching to a mixed viscosity 10w30 for example. Mixed viscoty oils are usually detergent oils. The main thing about lawnmower engines that I have found over the years is to make sure that you maintain the oil level in the crankcase ie ANY oil (thick, black or otherwise)is better than NO oil.
Oil color doesn't tell you squat about how the oil actually is!!

If its running rich, this will certainly make the oil black quick, or if it does have some sludge buildup inside, its a possibility.....

If its running rich, replace the air filter, and rebuild the carb (granted you havn't messed with any carb adjustments?) and readjust the jets at 1.5 turns out from all the way in snug as a baseline (this is of course if it has em)

You can try around 4 ounces in some hd-30 weight oil of marvel mystery oil, run it a few minutes and drain it again and refill with fresh oil to clean the engine out (I don't recommend flushes in engines, but this engine should be splash lubed)

Make sure you use a HD-30 weight, or 5w-30/10w-30 oil, not ND-30 (or non detergent) oil
Drain some oil out, about a pint, and replace with diesel fuel. Run it long enough to get engine hot. Drain. Replace. Do this every once in a while to dislodge the built up gunk that's causing your oil to stain so fast.
It has sludge in the sump (lower half of the crankcase) I would't try flushing it because of it's age instead let it go or just keep changing it eventually it will get better. if you mess with those older engines that have low compression as it is sometimes you lose tthem in the process. That's why flushing isn't a good idea.

  • Is there anything i can put in my car to stop a oil leak

depends on what is leaking? but money usally helps. Is there anything i can put in my car to stop a oil leak
You need to provide more information, type of car and engine. Exactly where the oil is coming out on the car, not where it is dripping, but the point it is emitted from the engine. Understand that it is usually moved by air flow on the engine before it drips. If it is a major mechanical problem such as a blown gasket or hole worn in the oil pan no additive will work. You might check the pcv as i once had one plug up and without crankcase ventilation this can force oil out. Fixing the pcv with a new clean one was cheap and fixed the problem. I would not recommend any additives to fix the problem until you diagnose the problem. If when diaganosis deems the car not worth repairing then an additive may slow the oil loss down, depends on the reason for leak. In short answer... no, additives usually are a waste of time.Is there anything i can put in my car to stop a oil leak
If it is in the engine, the oil seal needs replacement and it has to be done in the garage. If it is from the bottom chamber nut, you will require only a washer to add in the nut below the chamber from where you drain out oil.
There are lot of additive out there that are suppose to stop a leak.

But your oil is the life blood. If it failed down the line after temporary fix, and you didn't know, you can be driving on dry engine.

    Get it fixed correct way.

Why the humanity don't stop using oil for energy?

Necessity is the mother of invention. Atleast we have started talking about bio-diesels and fuel cells to minimisse petroleum products consumption. Battery run road vehicles are also being tried. Alternate to oil is still in R%26amp;D stage only.

Ramachandran V.Why the humanity don't stop using oil for energy?
Because they don't know proper grammer: ';Why doesn't humanity stop using oil for energy?'; would make more sense.

Anyway, to answer the question, not all of humanity uses oil for energy. Some places use wind and some use water. There are a couple more different sources of energy. I just think it's the most cost effective and I think most profitable for the government of america. Why the humanity don't stop using oil for energy?
It is always easier to continue the convenience of what is rather than experiencing the pain of change.
Humanity simply can't stop using oil for energy because our technology evolved hand in hand with oil, and with no concept of it ever running out.

Second, no politician wants to harm their country's economy, and any significant attempt to cut oil consumption will cause unemployment and price rises in just about every area of the economy. World leaders want to hang on to their jobs and causing problems in the economy is the best way to get booted out of a job, What they are all doing is pretending it is not as serious as it is and leaving it for the next guy in the job to deal with.

Third, many countries, and I'm particularly thinking of the U.S.A, have governments that are basically in the pockets of big business - and which is one of the biggest, yup, those good ole' boys in the oil business.

Fourth, China is expanding economically at an exponential rate using 20th century resources because they absolutely do not care about the rest of the world, or even the long term future of their citizens.
Because they are stupid, lazy and apathetic!
    because it's cheap.
because its very cheap comparative with another source of energy like nuclear or other or the other alternative is not available to all
Until a cheap, easily available alternative source of energy is found, oil will always top the list as the main source of energy.
What are you going to use instead? Our entire global society depends upon oil at the moment. It is the only source of energy that is cheap, available in large (but diminishing) amounts and can easily be charged for. Wind is too weak, nuclear to complex and too expensive. Solar is not powerful enough for our needs. Oil still gives the best bang-per-buck. so what is the alternative? and whay cannot we use that?

Some people believe that we can tap energy from a zero point within a quantum flux, or some such thing. That would give us free, clean energy.

Problem is, according to the theory, the source of that energy is everywhere and you can't put a meter on it. It would grant every village in Africa, India, South America the same access to energy generation as the first world nations. Purely from a financial point of view, that would destroy a multi-TRILLIAN dollar industry and put it in the bin overnight.

In addition to this, it would cause such a cataclysmic reorganisation of geo-political power, the likes of which have never before been seen, in speed and scale. The first world could not then use energy as a bargaining chip, and would have to resort to weaponry to maintain any advantage over the second and third world.

This brings me to the final reason that won't happen just yet. Mankind (kind? yeah, since when?) has not evolved spiritually as fast as technologically. The free energy would provide every person with a grudge, or spurned lover, or fired employee, or any nutcase, or every terrorist, with more potential firepower than ever before.

Do you want children to play with nukes? That is a metaphor for what could potentially be unleashed.

That is why we don't stop using oil. We cannot afford to yet, in terms of finance or security or responsibility.

Finally, I don't believe that there is a good enough link between our use of oil and global warming. for we did not use oil 600 years ago, and the climate then was as warm as it is now. ut then cooled, and has warmed again, naturally. The correlation between the sun's distance, and it's intensity and global warming is far greater, than that of our use of and emmisions of carbon.

Climate change is a natural phenomena. Yes we should stop harming and poluting our environment, but climate change is a different issue. besides, why does everyone single out the car? Air travel is far more damaging than car travel. 1 transatlantic flight is the equivilent of 100,000 commutes in a standard car.
Just tried to test out this feature in Yahoo. Give a shot here...

Well, looking at the evolution of energy consumption from firewoods, coal and to oil; petrol or oil is the most widely used energy in human history, partly thanks to commonization of transport vehicles by Henry Ford in 19th century. Ever since then, human beings stepped up the usage of oil at exponential rate in consistent manner; as it was the most cost effective method to convert useful energy for most people.

My understanding is that, once the oil is expensive enough to allow the evolution of another more cost effective energy (and sustainable one); the governments and companies around the world would pour enough money to ensure the alternatives do work, and work well. Currently, there're efforts to derive alternative bio-fuel, wind energy, solar energy and etc. but they are no way near the cost effeciveness of oil at present moment (albeit the rise of oil to USD70 / barrel).

So, hopefully, things will improve much better before the Antartica polar cap melts. The most pressing concern should be global warming and the lack of crisis minded-ness from governments around the world on this issue.
Because the government enjoys the tax revenue too much!

Will you stop driving a car if the oil price hits USD 100 a barrel?

We ar eat $70 a barrel now

Soon it will be $100 a barrel

Will ther be riots? Is Mad max coming?

Will you be Mad Max?Will you stop driving a car if the oil price hits USD 100 a barrel?
Only if I have to pay $100 for that barrel. If it gets that high there will be more problems then gas. You wouldn't be running to mc donalds for the big mac either. It is the other products that will make a difference, like food. Will you stop driving a car if the oil price hits USD 100 a barrel?
    That is pretty scarey...

I stopped driving a car for three months now.. I can t afford it being on the road.. So I'm either ';hoofing'; it or riding a bike.
I dont think people will stop driving their cars. People have to get to work and school etc. They will most likely car pool, ride share, take the bus or train more.
Not too far away before it hits $100. I'll just drive less. Good thing I never brought those gas guzzling SUV. I couldn't even afford the gas to get to the poor house.
%90 of the world's population do not own a car. Is the %10 that own a car relly that pathetic that they will riot over expensive gas?

Besides, most of world still pays much more gas than Americans do.
What are the alternatives? You can't pedal power a 4 wheel drive truck or heavy machinery. You can advance as a society without power equipment. Power is the source of advancment. We must find an alternative power source or degrade back into a more primitive society like unto that Mad Max of which you referenced.
we ALL need to stop driving our cars as much as possible. the only way the price is going to come down is if we stop using soo much. i ONLY burn one tank a month. its the bus after that.
well i have to get to work and it is a long drive so plan B i went out and bought a little motorcycle gets 38 mpg city and 57 highway on average prices are not up to us and little we can do to change them just be happy its not like in the UK at $7/gal or there about
It is called inflation. Gas prices are not really too high even at 100 pr barrel. We have just gotten used to cheap fuel. The next thing to catch up will be food prices. We have had extremely cheap food in North America, but it will not last.
let me tell you this we have very un smart people in this country because..... think of this we have the best oil here but the goverment got people messed up thinking that we are at war for oil that part of it but that not all no one tell the house of senate that we wont stand for this because this will never be a rich society not everybody has it like that and the rich need to say something to because why waste thier money people get the laws changed it take more than waiting for things to happen . i think it will happen but think if we protest are we terrorist and why are we in a fascia's country not free any more wake up people they want us to stay shut well i wont because i fight for my rights and may people that don't belong here should then we hit the government everything we got before we become like Russian in the 1980s

If it is leaking form a major seal, try de-sludging the engine and using synthetic oil. It SHOULD wash out the junk that is trapped in the seal. Other things added to oil usually only promote disaster somewhere else inside! What is best ';stop engine oil leak'; product on the market today? thanx mike m?
I dont think stop leak products work. By the time it starts leaking on the ground nothing is going to plug a leak. Some folks may have some seepage around their gaskets %26amp; it might stop that though. I've never been lucky enough to have seepage. My gaskets either seal perfectly or gush everywhere. I dont think there is an inbetween when it comes to leaks.

  • My wife car is burning oil what can she do to stop it change the head gasket?

changing the head gasket will not stop that problem, however the rings and/or the valve stem seals could be at fault. every engine out there burns oil. it is part of life and nothing that can be done about it. if you are not happy wit the rate of consumption there is a few things that you can do. first off go to a little heavier oil, that is all it takes some times. also there is now an oil for this situation, the higher mileage oil can help to return the seals to there original shape and help them become more flexible again. it is not a cure all though. most manufactures agree that roughly a quart every 3000 mile is normal. if you ask me if it does not happen, at that point i would worry. My wife car is burning oil what can she do to stop it change the head gasket?
There are too many answers for this question. How many quarts of oil is your wife's car using per 1000 miles of driving? Believe it or not, 1 quart per 1000 miles is considered normal although for late model cars this is rare. If sludge is built up in the valve cover(s) over the top of the cylinder head and on some engines this can be checked by removing the oil filer cap and looking into to the filler pipe area. If you see oil (like water not draining in the bath tub), then the cylinder head drain holes are blocked and need to be opened. The PCV system can also be blocked sucking oil under extra pressure. My wife car is burning oil what can she do to stop it change the head gasket?
do this first ! take the valve pans off and see if the drain holes are opened up. if they are clogged then oil can run down pass the valve seals and get on the valves. i fix a car awhile back and that what was wrong with it.
you did not mention the make or year of car. or how many miles on it. so we would assume that the car is old. you need another car or it is time for an overhaul.
    Stop driving it.

When at high idle i have good oil pressure when i stop or at low idle i loose all oil pressure ?

How many miles are on it? could be worn cam bearings and or oil pump.. check it with a real oil pressure gauge.. a little loss is ok, but shouldn't go below 25 lbs. When at high idle i have good oil pressure when i stop or at low idle i loose all oil pressure ?
sounds right your engine is running at higher rpm higher oil pressure low rpm low oil pressure usually drops a little, but should go back up when you drive again.the oil pickup in the engine sucks up more oil when the engine is spinning faster..but a good oil check with the engine warm is also a good thing to check but most of the time its normal. When at high idle i have good oil pressure when i stop or at low idle i loose all oil pressure ?
Ralpf is correct, this is why most auto makers don't put guages into cars, they have to teach and sometime argue with customers that where is says normal on the guage is only normal when the rpm is above 1800. If you are conserned or have ANY engine noise take the vehicle to a good repair shop and have it tested with a calibrated wet guage in place of the vehicle sensor.
Check your oil level - it is probably low !

b.) Is this common on a 18 yr. old car with over 200,000?While driving my '90 Miata, I smell gear oil when I come to a stop.?
Just because you smell gear oil, it doesn't mean you have a leak. I think you have got low on gear oil. You'll have to get under the car you will see a filler nut on the side of the gearbox, it's full of oil when it reaches the nuts orifice lower line. get gearoil with a fill tube attached and top up. better still, remove from underneath the gearbox, the drain plug (the old oil will gush out) replace plug and fill up with new oil. While driving my '90 Miata, I smell gear oil when I come to a stop.?
the dip stick is the same spedoometer cable yo have to pull out the cable and fill it until the oil came out the speedometer chamber

my suggestion take your car to pep boys or any quick lube and ask for the job
maybe u need to go tell someone until it EXPLOSE!!!
make your rear main rear seal is not dripping into the bell housing than leaking onto the clutch
Well have you checked your transmission oil? As your Miata has tranny oil and not fluid. You have to get under the Miata to check the tranny fluid level. If you do not have records or paperwork on when it was last changed, then I would recommend changing the tranny oil. My bet is your smelling old tranny oil burning and not your engine oil. Especially with a high mile Miata what do you have to loose?
You're probably smelling motor oil that is dripping onto the exhaust system. You really SHOULD keep your machines in better running order
It could be the smell is fluid or oil being burned on the exhaust, look for odd coloring or stains on the exhaust and it may lead you to the source of a leak.
Probably smelling your tranny fluid and or brake fluid if its happening when your stopping im not sure with miatas but thats what it would be to check the levels but thats just a thought on what it would be

What are some organizations that help to stop/ prevent/ clean up oil pollution, or pollution in general?

How long will it be until Saudi Arabia stop oil to America?

israel #1 suporterHow long will it be until Saudi Arabia stop oil to America?
HAHAHA, Saudi Arabia stop supplying oil to America??? thats funny, it wont stop, because it has interests with America, and America helps Saudi Arabia in ways, didnt u ever think, why Saudi Arabia has not being supportive to Syria, Lebanon, or Palestine??? Its because its afraid of loosing its interests with AmericaHow long will it be until Saudi Arabia stop oil to America?
Maybe when biotech engineers enable Cargill, Archer Daniels and other ';green'; American firms to produce our transportation fuel needs from cornstalks and similar biomass, like Brazil does now from sugar cane. This is currently in work. Check the latest Forbes magazine for a great article on this.
I don't think that a total stoppage would occur. Saudi Arabia may be Israels #1 supporter, but don't forget who is the Middle Easts oil suppliers #1 supporter is. The USA.

They may try to influence our government by slowwing down the supply, but they would be foolish to completely cut us off.
Saudi Arabia will never stop the flow of oil as long as there is no change in the politics of Saudi Arabia. The Gov't. of S. Arabia needs the U.S. threat to ward off the islamists who want to change the country.

And as is going on in many countries, The U.S. is bolstering these semi fascist regimes to maintain a supply of black gold.

In the same sense, has anyone wondered why all the rhetoric against Hugo Chavez. They claim so, but it's not because of his internal policies, which is none of their business ( Chavez is a democratically elected president), it's because he.s a threat to their supply of oil from Venezuela and his influence in OPEC
It agrees with Israel so don't get your hopes up
In about 80 years when their supply goes dry

  • My oil light keeps lighting up on when i am at a complete stop.?

My 2003 dodge neon oil light seems to start beeping everytime i come to a compleate stop, and will continue beeping up untill i start moving again. I keep up with oil changes and have not seen any loss of oil recantly. Just wondering if anyone would have any suggestions on what this might mean. thanks ^^My oil light keeps lighting up on when i am at a complete stop.?
Your oil pump is getting wear on and not pumping like it should or your engine is getting worn. Either way it's not a good thing. You can put in a heavier oil and it might help some but when the light is on the bearings are being starved for oil.My oil light keeps lighting up on when i am at a complete stop.?
probably when u are stopped the car is idling to low, which also causes less oil flow, thats why when u resume driving light goes out, find out if the car is idling at the right rpm, thats most likely the problem, is the motor running a little rough when stopped ? if it is , low rpm for what ever reason
Typically, it means you have low oil pressure. And with indicator lights, there is usually very, very little oil pressure. Check your oil to make sure you have your 4 quarts or whatever it needs and aren't leaking any. Sounds like a common Chrysler problem as mentioned with the van above.
could be time for oil change and it could be a bad oil sensor which is easy to replace most offen its just above the oil filter one wire one part screws out easy... but it could be worse like a weak oil pump best not to be guessing and have it check
Ensure that the drain bolt and washer (gasket) for the oil well is securrly tight and have a oil change done to it immediatly before you cause oil friction and burn your engine!!!!!!
This happened to me also and they had to change a sensor and it stopped happening.
maybe low oil pressure or a faulty sensor u will have to get it checked.try cleaning around sensor and make sure it it seated/connected properly
Some cars have a change oil soon, reset button.....I would take it to an auto parts store and have them check your computer.
it could mean low oil presure,,,for whatever reason,,,have it checked.

Libs/Dems, Bill O'Reilly wants government intervention to stop the fluctuation of oil by speculators, he wants?

the government to step in and give some ';passengers bill of rights'; for airline passengers. He was for taxing what he considered ';obscene'; profits by big oil.

How can you think he is in the tank for the Republicans??

Thanks!Libs/Dems, Bill O'Reilly wants government intervention to stop the fluctuation of oil by speculators, he wants?
I am in the tank for no one but myself, the American public and my own political beliefs. You need to start watching my show nightly so I can educate you.Libs/Dems, Bill O'Reilly wants government intervention to stop the fluctuation of oil by speculators, he wants?
I would like to like him, but O'Reilly is a populist and an economic illiterate. I recall him discussing how oil prices were ';set'; - it was absolutely hilarious. He, nor the guest, had an inkling of a clue (not do most Americans). He blamed oil companies and OPEC! The only thing he didn't do was blame Bush or Cheney.

While he gets a few things right, he is no conservative and certainly no libertarian. Much of what he believes and regurgitates is everything -we- aren't..

It's guys like O'Reilly that drag the Republican name through the mud and have shaped the public image of ';Republicans';. Just look at some of the answers here.

Again, I want to like him... I really do... but he's no conservative or libertarian.
    republicans always say conservative things

but their actions are always opposite.

they talk fiscal conservativism but spend more than any democrat

they talk about no nation building, then do it

they talk about states rights, but then trample them to score political points

they talk about privacy, but support warrantless wiretaps and data mining

They talk about supporting the troops, but send them into battle without armor

and leave the democrats to pass the GIBILL
I can't stand to listen to O'Reilly when he talks about the oil industry. He has absolutely no idea what he's talking about, and he is clearly trying to appear in the ';center'; of the issue.

Maybe it's just me....but it seems real obvious when O'Reilly is trying to appear something other than conservative.
So, even O'Realy can sense the change that is taking place in the US. Even O'Realy understands that the republicans are dead in the water.

He'll do whatever it takes to keep his ratings up. Even if that means giving up his cultural war and pretending to be a realist. If that is what the majority of viewers want. He will give it to them.

You can tell that FOX lies, simply because of the fact that they claim to be ';Fair and Balanced.'; The truth has never been fair or balanced. The truth doesn't have a political slant.
In my opinion he has really simmered over the years, and now that he is making good solid argument for both left and right agendas, he is being skewered by those that watched his caustic diatribe years ago never to return... However I guess it really doesn't matter since he has the highest ratings in just about all news venues... And obviously getting wealthier with things like his last book being on the best seller list for... How long? sixteen months....Geeezzz :) Wouldn't that be nice
the oil is no big deal as this country gets less oil dependent the rest of the world will follow and oil will fall because of surplus all we need to do is put the Republican law makers on an airplane on a runway for 16 hours and they will intervening
Very few agree 100% with their party affiliation. As a life long Democrat my views on illegal immigration are very different from the Democratic party platform.

Bill O'Reilly is a conservative and I doubt if he will change his political affiliation.
As much as I dislike his personality, O'Reilly is one of the better right-wing hosts, especially in comparison to loonies like Limbaugh and Howard Beale, I mean Glenn Beck.
Does it matter? An idiots an idiot no matter which side he's in the tank for.

Last night he said TV wasn't the place for speculation. Ridiculous! That's all he does!
He is on the sell us all out side of the republican party, his seat is next to McCain's.
because he focuses on non-issues like all republitards.
    He wants that NOW???!!!???
that's just a line he tows in order to maintain some semblance of objectivity....he's a joke, don't doubt it.
Wow he doesn't agree with them on a few minor issues! He's a real rebel!

    %26lt;sarcasm%26gt;
They don't watch him. He is very fair.
he is more ind. to me, perhaps libertarian, at least he's intelligent compared to dems.

    Does face oil ever stop?

seriously just answer the question. Usually i get answers like use this use that i just want to know, does it ever stop naturally or will you have to live with it forever?Does face oil ever stop?
My face is extremely oily. My mother's was too when she was younger but her's has decreased quite a bit (she's in her early 50's). The bright side is... if you skin is oily you usually have less wrinkles. But what the other person said about stripping your skin and making it produce more oil is right. Proactiv works good for me.Does face oil ever stop?
For women, it slows eventually because of changing hormones. For men, I am not sure if this is the case. However, oil can be controlled somewhat by using ph balanced products such as cetaphil cleanser and lotion, both of which will not strip your skin, causing your skin to react by producting more oil.

I am 25 year old lady and my hair becoming grey, i want to stop can use any medicine or oil for stopping grey?

    age :25

    martial status : married

    children: no

colour:whiteI am 25 year old lady and my hair becoming grey, i want to stop can use any medicine or oil for stopping grey?
Sorry, but I do not believe there is any way to stop your hair greying. But you can blend in the grey with highlights and it will look great and more natural than completely coloring your hair.I am 25 year old lady and my hair becoming grey, i want to stop can use any medicine or oil for stopping grey?
I don't think there's anything that can stop i the gray hairs. But here is some advice getting gray hair doesn't mean your necessarily getting older that's just your body telling you that your getting wiser by the minute and that your going to grow up using that wisdom to get all that cash; so don't worry about it OK.
my neice is 7 and she has a few grey hairs. i am 28 and just found my first grey hair. my mother was 12 when she began to have grey hairs.

i do not think there is anyway of stopping or slowing down the process of getting grey hairs. such depends on heredity, as well as environmental factors.

you can dye your hair to cover up the grey.

i wouldnt be too concerned. most likely, you wont be completely grey for a while. embrace your grey, dont be ashamed of it. i have found that such can be very sexy, if maintained properly.

ps: i had a bio. prof. in college who was 25, and her entire front of her hair was completely grey. she looked older, but very cool.
Well ur lucky my mom started to get grays wen she was 16. I know it sounds unbeliveable but its true! And sorry theres no cure for grays just color ur hair.
Copper is an essential micro-nutrient. It is needed for red blood cell formation, protein metabolism, the production of RNA, enzyme activity, hair and skin color, and the health of the nerves.

If you take large amounts of Vitamin C, you need more copper. Colloidal Copper has been used as a remedy for gray hair, burns, arthritis, parasites and viral and bacterial infections.

    MELANCOR

    Bertha from Phoenix writes, ';I have had lots of gray hair since I was around 25. Last year, I bumped into ';Melancor'; and decided to give it a try. I had read Adelle Davis's books where this great woman explained how certain B vitamins and a good diet can restore natural hair color. When I read about Melancor and its formula I decided to buy it. I started taking it as prescribed and , in about a month, I could see about 30% or more of my hair recover its natural color. I stopped taking Melancor for about 8 months in order to see whether my hair color stayed the same and... IT HAS!. Now I am thinking of going back to Melancor in the hope that I will be able to get more hair restored to its original color.';
To check graying of hair, mix lemon juice in olive oil, beat till frothy and apply on scalp and wash off after an hour. Premature graying of hair can be postponed by using a strong decotion of black tea and a tablespoon of salt, strain and apply to the roots for 45 minutes and wash with water. Don't shampoo. Why would a car stop running and have oil all over it ??

Meaning my friend borrowed my car she said she was going only 60 mile a hour up hill everything was fine No noise nothing , but when she pulled over to let a truck pass ,, Bam ,,it stopped running %26amp; oil was every where?

Can you Please be nice and answer the question , the car was running like a top , before she took it , She said that she would replace the engine as soon as it gets here? . so do you think maybe she was driving with out oil ,??? I told her to ck it , and not use the air conditioner going up a long hill ,,

Please let me know what you know ,,

If she is telling me the truth ???????Why would a car stop running and have oil all over it ??
You might have been needing a head gasket thats why you might need to put oil before taking long trips or going up a heavy hill. when goin up a steep hill you need to press on the gas so the car can make it up, in doing so this created more pressure the more pressure was created the more oil it sarted to leak. She might have put some oil but not enough too keep the car running after loosing so much on the steep hill. Why would a car stop running and have oil all over it ??
I know this may sound ridiculous but it happened, I had put oil in the engine and forgot to put the oil filler cap back on,I had oil all over engine bay and even on the windshield. Otherwise an oil line may have broke and sprayed oil all over engine bay. I don't think she would have done anything to the car to cause this,it's one of those things that happen. Since she has been good enough to offer to replace engine I would let it go at that and just chalk it up to a bad day,I'm sure she feels as bad about as you do...
I was surprised at how much oil my neighbors Tercel not only burned but leaked also.
oil is leaking from the sump a big leak did it stutter stall hesitate or just turn off?
It sound you got a blown gasket somewhere... probably a head or an intake gasket... Our car was running fine... Then we stopped at a stop light and the temperature gage red-lined.... We rebuilt the motor and it runs like new... When you blow a hear or intake gasket then the oil seeps out onto the motor... The reason for the car shut down is that the computer in the car knew there was no oil and shut down... She may have been telling the truth... The gaskets were probably old and starting to ';rot'; away any way. Hope this helps you out!
Could have blown a head gasket
My ex girlfriend bottomed out on a hill and knocked a hole in the oil filter. Luckily I noticed the oil everywhere and shut it down before it quit. It was a dodge neon.
Kinda sounds like she chucked a connecting rod out the side of the block. Usually caused by driving it hard.
it depends on how long it went with out oil and if the oil leak is due to a gasket leaking or if something like a rod come through the block ... your just going to have to get it checked out and go from there
You back pressured the oil pan and this is what blow the oil out. The red light should have come on. The oil level switch should have kick in and shut down the engine.

Run a compression check to see if the engine is as following:

    1 Is engine rotating

2 Is compression on all the cylinders and at proper pressure.

3 check the oil fill cap to see if it is still in place.

4 you may have broke a timing belt.

5 have the computer check and see what is stored there that may help you determine the problem.

6 The engine light should still be on

    7 check oil pressure switch

8 check oil pan breather inlet

    9 check the oil level

    10 check ignition fire

    11 check ignition timing

    If the follow are OK

    Yes the engine rotates,

Yes the compression is OK Timing belt OK

Yes the engine light is on. Check source of problem by means of computer check

Yes the engine rotates, compression OK, Oil level Ok, ignition OK

ENGINE SHOULD START AND RUN SAFELY
ITS A 15 YEAR OLD VEHICLE AND ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN AND IT COULD HAVE JUST BEEN LIKE SEE SAID.

YOU CAN EITHER BELIEVE HER OR ASK HER TO PAY FOR IT, THE CHOICE IS YOURS.

I KNOW THAT YOU DON'T WANT TO HEAR THIS BUT NEVER LET ANYONE DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE BECAUSE IF SOMETHING HAPPENS LIKE IN THIS CASE, YOU ARE STUCK BETWEEN A ROCK AND A HARD PLACE.

Should we all stop burning oil?

Yes, but not until we have something to replace it. Right now we have a way to reduce pollution and end our dependence on Middle Eastern oil and the answer lies in ethanol and biodiesel. In the future, there's hope of hydrogen cars.Should we all stop burning oil?
SURE. sell your car, turn off your furnace, stop cooking, stop using hot water for anything, stop using electricity, tell your employer to shut down his business, that should get us going in the right direction.Should we all stop burning oil?
Can't think of a reason why we should stop doing it... as long as it is burn in the correct way or the most efficient way as possible. By correct i mean without polluting.
Should you stop being a hippie douche!
not stop, but reduce energy consumption in general, think about your energy use and turn it off if not in use
    Definatively.
We should solar power for buses and trains.
    One day we have to.

Other than making life more difficult for speculators (which should be done - according to Alan Greenspan, market speculation is costing us $10 - 15 per barrel), what do you have in mind? Declaring war on Saudi Arabia and Venezuela? Is the US government doing anything to stop the spike in price of crude oil?

If Chemical 'sponge' could filter CO2 from the air, would we need to stop using coal and oil?

    Article at

    http://environment.newscientist.com/arti鈥?/a>

Pretend that sponge is so cheap it is like free, so it is easy to absorb CO2 to get any ppm we want, even less than 100 years ago. Should carbon emissions still be restricted? Why/why not?If Chemical 'sponge' could filter CO2 from the air, would we need to stop using coal and oil?
    Yes, for several reasons.

    1) CO2 is not the only biproduct of burning fossil fuels. As mucky suggested, just take a look at China's air (seriously, you can see it!).

    2) Fossil fuels are nonrenewable resources - there's a limit to how much coal and oil we can realistically extract from the Earth. Before long we'll start to run out and prices will skyrocket. The sooner we prepare for Peak Oil, the better off we'll be when it hits.

    3) Oil is also located primarily in unstable political regions like the Middle East. We'd be better off reducing our dependency on foreign oil.

    4) Encouraging new green technologies will benefit our economy because we'll get investment in new companies and products. Just think back to how well our economy was doing during the dot com boom.

    5) There are only so many places we can store carbon underground. You need the appropriate geological conditions for the CO2 to remain sequestered indefinitely. In other words, even if the sponge were to work, it would not solve our global warming problem entirely. If Chemical 'sponge' could filter CO2 from the air, would we need to stop using coal and oil?
You mean something like a big alkaline ocean of water? That would be totally wicked. If the planet had something like that we wouldn't need to control our CO2 emissions at all. The big alkaline ocean of water would simply absorb all the CO2 from the atmosphere and everything would be most excellent.
Why don't we gat bored of 'magic bullets'? Things like this only waste time because we think technology is going to come to the rescue so we can continue to sit on our butts.

Ask someone dying from the pollution in China this question, or the communities split by a highway, or the commuters stuck in thier cars for hours, I could go on.
No need to build a sponge.

The sponge is already present and working well. It is called the OCEANS. The oceans absorb every bit of CO2 that it contacts. lt is a limitless sink for CO2. Always has been, always will be. That is the way nature devised it. The oceans are working 24/7 to accomplish it.

Well, land plants do absorb some CO2. Approximately 3% of the time.

It is also true that wood for building houses takes a large percentage of CO2 out of circulation for many years. Stores it and allows room for more trees to grow and take up CO2.

Why limit coal and oil burning? It can not increase the atmospheric CO2 because of the above reasons.

The only fuel that CAN have an effect on atmospheric CO2 is the jet engines burning thousands of tons of fuel daily above 30,000 ft. Nature does not have an efficient method of clearing CO2 from that high of an elevation.
eventually you would have to dispose of the filter which would fill up the land fill.

My car cuts off when I come to a complete stop and the engine is jumping .I got a tune up , oil change?

Also the car over heats not that oftenMy car cuts off when I come to a complete stop and the engine is jumping .I got a tune up , oil change?
You didn't say what kind of car this is. If it's an early 80's to early 90's General Motors car (Chevy, Pontiac, etc.,) with an automatic transmission, this was a somewhat common problem. There is a switch, or valve (TCC or torque converter clutch solenoid,) that basically causes the automatic to have zero internal slipping when at cruising speeds. This is fine, and saves gas mileage. Cars still have the same kind of set-up today. The problem with these GM cars, was that as the transmissions wore internally, little flakes of metal were attracted to these solenoids in the transmission (due to magnetized metal on the solenoids,) which eventually caused the solenoids to stick in the locked up mode. Again, it would be fine driving around, but when you come up to a stop sign, and apply the brake, there is no internal slippage allowed in the transmission due to the malfunctioning solenoid, and the engine dies. It is much like coming to a stop sign with a stick shift car, and never pressing down on the clutch pedal. The transmission can't release from the engine, so the braking of the car kills the engine. It will start right back up, buck a bit until your going a few miles and hour, and will be fine until you come up to another stop sign. I don't know if this is a common problem in non-GM cars, but seems likely. I hope this helps. My car cuts off when I come to a complete stop and the engine is jumping .I got a tune up , oil change?
Sounds like a fuel or timming problem.....is fuel injected or carb? does it have good power when it is not stalled? often it is a dirty injector or throttle body. the over heating is another problem i think....check your belt condition and coolant level....also check for scaling in the radiator....I would try running a fuel cleaner through the fuel tank...it is easy just add it when you fill up and it will try to clean your inj/thr body. it is NOT your alt or battery...if it were it would not start again after it stalled. With the info provided that is all i can say right now...
If your car starts back up after stalling it is not the alt. or battery. The engine is not getting enough air or fuel at a idle buy the sounds from what you are describing. These things are controlled by the computer system. You need to take it to auto technician and have him/her test it for errors. A tune up does not solve most of todays problems like they did before computers.
Go in for a check up to see what the mechanics say but I think it could be your battery or alternator. Oh yea what make, model, and year is your car?
It is probably the fuel filter trying to stop up. Or your fuel pump is going bad. If it is fuel injected could be injector problems but I would check the fuel filter and fuel pump first. If it is overheating check the radiator it could be blocked from bugs. Check the coolant .
The previous answer about the battery or the alternator is good. Also check the battery connections as this could also be an issue. If you have not had your timing belt changed then you may want to check your owners manual. You do not want your timing belt to go - it will kill your engine.
get the head seal checked. also the water pump.

Do you think Big Oil stopped building refineries because Big Environmental created to many road blocks?

Not big environmental. It's objections from residents of town targeted for a new refinery. It,s the NIMBY thingy.Do you think Big Oil stopped building refineries because Big Environmental created to many road blocks?
Nope, that is the farthest thing from the truth. Texaco and Chevron both closed refineries in California in the late 1990's and early 2000's. All of them were operating at the time too. It was all for higher profits. It obviously worked. And, the current refineries we have are only operating 70% capacity.

BTW, environmentalists don't make the laws. And, the GOP has been in charge of the government for 6 of the last 8 years. Hmm, last time I looked Republicans could care less about environmentalists and only cared about oil profits.Do you think Big Oil stopped building refineries because Big Environmental created to many road blocks?
no they stopped building refineries, because of simple math...

REFINE LESS + SHIP LESS + LESS LABOR + LESS COST = CHARGE MORE FOR GASOLINE

here's a simple example...not a precise example...but nonetheless it should convey my point...

You can pick and sell 10 oranges for 2 dollars each, or you pick and sell 5 oranges for 4 each. As a business person which makes more sense ? They both equal 20 dollars right ?....but you only had to transport half of your product if you go with 5 for 4...therefore you made more money and the reason for the inflated cost is....';supply'; and ';demand';. Of course it helps when you only have a handful of other people selling oranges along side you so they can do the same thing...(collusion)
No, petroleum products are transportable goods. they can be manufactured anywhere and shipped to the markets.

They quite building refineries here because it's much cheaper to build and operate refineries in third world countries and ship the gas to market.
Down here in Texas, some of the refineries in Pasadena and Texas City have gone boom at various times. Kind of hard for an Oil Company to get around that kind of bad publicity.
More likely to keep the supply bottleneck in so that they could keep prices up.

WHo's ';big environmental'; anyway? I keep hearing about it. is it some kind of rap band?
    Well, seeing as how none have been built because they aren't allowed by enviromentalists... I would say, ';DUHHH! Yes';
No. Fewer refineries = increased profits.
Well, since it takes more than 10 years to get approval because of all the roadblocks, I would say that is a safe bet.

Should the usa and canada develope the vast reserves of oil and stop buying oil from the arabs?

YES YES YES... The USA and Canada should DRILL IN THE NORTH COUNTRY.. Use OUR OWN OIL and drive the price of gasoline down to improve both countries ECONOMIES.. As soon as the ECONOMIES are at a point where everyone isn't spending so much on fuel that we can invest the money in FUEL ALTERNATIVES.. After we develop HYDROGEN and NATURAL GAS powered vehicles we can go in and REPAIR and REPOPULATE the areas that we had to use to DRILL and MINE.. It's a pretty simple plan, but of course we'll FOREVER have some ECO-FREAK or LIBERAL whining and crying about the spotted-left handed-migratorial-one eyed-ring tailed otters habitat..Should the usa and canada develope the vast reserves of oil and stop buying oil from the arabs?
What vast reserves? There's simply not that much oil in North America, and it would cost an extreme amount of money, most of it spent on energy costs, to be able to create the capacity necessary to cut out all middle east oil imports.Should the usa and canada develope the vast reserves of oil and stop buying oil from the arabs?
Absolutely. While working on the hydrogen engine, which still won't get us totally away from an oil based economy due to plastics and from what I have heard about having to use coal to produce the hydrogen we are still going to use hydrocarbons
I have a yes and no sorta answer. I think we should stop buying oil from other countries. Period.

BUT. Instead of spending vast quantities of our money developing our own reserves of oil (which will eventually run out, be harmful to the environment in many ways, etc. etc. ), I think we should spend more time developing fuel alternatives like BioDiesel (I'm just picking one fuel alternative for the sake of my answer), for instance, which...

    ';...is better for the environment because it is made from renewable resources and has lower emissions compared to petroleum diesel. It is less toxic than table salt and biodegrades as fast as sugar. Since it is made in the USA from renewable resources such as soybeans, its use decreases our dependence on foreign oil and contributes to our own economy.';

And wouldn't it be a nice change for the entire U.S. farming community to actually start making some money again?

The U.S. has a huge thirst for fuel. Great. Let's let our farmers grow it for us.
    It's impossible(for many reasons)

But a good idea, leave middle east alone.
It is a shame to make this an North America vs. Arab issue. We should not depend on such vital resources from unstable sources such as much of the Middle East, Nigeria, Venezuela, etc.

Instead of spending so much money on defense, war, etc. to protect those supplies why couldn't we spend the same money on substute sources? So many oppose alternative energy subsidies. However, I would rather subsidize solar panels made in the USA versus a defending so many corrupt governments.
I think you US %26amp; Canada should develop the vast reserve responsibly and still buying from the Arabs if not how on earth will US %26amp; Canada fuel their economy and gas guzzling vehicles?

The question you should ask is for US to stop poking into other people's business and keep their militiray at home guarding your own bloody country unless they are invited to come to any country by UN. Do not blame terrorist %26amp; oil resources, blame BUSH for high world oil price! His incompetentcy has caused everybody in the world to suffer!
