How can one member of congress, Nancy Palosi, stop all chances of oil being drilled for. How does the House Majority Leader have the power to hold up all voting on oil drilling. As far as I remember they are there to keep order and guide regular procedures. Why does she have the power the president does to shut down a bill. How do we live in a world where one person can stop all oil drilling?
We don't.
But answer me this:
How can we live in a world where a very small handful of dim, selfish, lazy, over-indulgent uber-consumers are simply unable to grasp the simple concept that THE OIL IS GOING TO RUN OUT ONE DAY so isn't the smart thing to do would be to prepare for that eventuality?
Instead of whining and sobbing and stamping your feet that the grown-ups won't allow you to keep shooting up heroin?
Allegorically speaking, that is.How do we live in a world where one person can stop all oil drilling?
We don't live in a world where one person can stop all oil drilling. Oil is still being drilled in many, many parts of the world, including our own country. Nancy Pelosi is just prohibiting the drilling of oil in our national parks and heavy tourist destinations. Allowing oil to be drilled in our national parks totally defeats the purpose of having national parks. The tourism dollars generated by certain coastal areas is much greater than any economic boost from oil being drilled. She has greater power than the president in terms of shutting down a bill because she is Speaker of the House, and Congress is where bills are created. The president's power lies in enforcing laws, not creating and passing them.
Pelosi's refusal to allow debate and voting on new leases and drilling proposals is a disgrace. This is what happens when you elect Democrats. They claim to be for the little guy until the little guy shows up, and then they step on the little guy because he is so, well, little. John McCain has good ideas to jumpstart American energy production. Let's get someone in the White House who will punch Nancy Pelosi's lights out. With Democrats in control of both Congress and the White House, energy prices will skyrocket in the coming years. That is what they want. It is our job to prevent it from happening.
She is a liberal socialist democrat whose inalienable, inherited right is to be the most powerful person in the world. She and she alone is going to rule this world and everyone will be happy when she does.
I just don't know how her constituents can continue to vote that stupid woman into office. If she does get re-elected, I bet the democrats will remove her as speaker. They need to get SOMETHING done for a change.
How do we live in a world........? We were born here, sweetheart. And it's called ';pecking order';... aka democracy. If you know anything about government at all, you would realize that Nancy didn't make that decision all by herself, nor does she, all by herself, have ';the power'; to shut down a bill. And if you are of voting age, you had as much ';power'; as anyone else when you marked your ballot.
Oil companies already have tons of places they could drill for oil, but what incentive do they have?
If I was selling oil for $120 a barrel and someone told me I could work harder and drill for more to drop the price to $60 a barrel, why would I, as a profit making company, want to do that?
She can't politicians are selfish its all smoke and mirrors to us and for their fellow politicians its you scratch my back i'll scratch yours. don't listen to them the Government will ALWAYS hide the truth from the people.
I think it goes by votes...
Even if one vote is not counted, it wont happen. Everyone has to agree on the same thing.
And why would you want more oil to be drilled? Are you war hungry or something...
Other countries are drilling more. Even the greenest of the green countries. Pelosi, Gore, Obama and Reid want Americans to suffer.
if all oil stop drilling today, will be easily ended in WWIII, because currently the world is still depend on oil to function their business.
oil companies drill oil, individuals don't..... oil companies have no incentive to drill right now and won't....
One Day at a time.
BTW did all drilling stop. Will the gas rig near my house be demobilizing and capping the well they started.
';One person'; did NOT stop it....The PNAC did it many years ago when they got Ronnie and DADDY bush in the White House. The facts are out there, all one has to do is seek them out.
It is the way the rules of the House work. Not a thing we can do about it, unless one lives in CA.
Becasue Nancy Pelosi anbd the rest of her ilk have decided to let us eat cake.
It's not just one person, she represents me and a lot of other people. We think you should stop using your damn SUV!
We don't. The oil companies have plenty of US land leases they can drill on. But they choose not to.

What's a good natural medicine to stop toenail fungus? I have tried tea tree oil with no results.?
Fungus infestations can refer to athlete's food. The most common cause of these infestations is the destruction of beneficial bacteria by antibiotics, drugs, or radiation, resulting in the takeover of undesirable fungi. Besides being taken as a drug, antibiotics often are found in the food supply because antibiotic supplements are given to animals as treatment for diseases and also as a food additive. People with any type of fungal infestation should establish an adequate diet, including generous amounts of the A, B, and C vitamins, raw fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and yogurt or acidophilus. Armoatherapy includes lavender, myrrh, patchouli, and tea tree. What's a good natural medicine to stop toenail fungus? I have tried tea tree oil with no results.?

Vick Vapor Rub..REALLY! It works.
Oddly enough, my mother-in-law just passed this odd bit of trivia to me a few weeks ago. She had the same problem and SWEARS by good ol' Vick's mentholated rub. The stuff mom rubbed all over us when we were sick years ago?
As I'm told, rub the Vick's on the surface of your toenails and under them too. I'd recommend socks until it soaks in! Hope it works for you...it worked for her.
A fungal culture will show whether a fungal nail infection is present and what type of fungus it is. A fungal culture is typically done when a diagnosis is unclear or when treatment of a fungal infection has not been successful. If uncommon fungi are identified, the infection can then be treated with different medication. To get rid of a fungal nail infection you will usually have to take tablets, sometimes for up to six months. Fingernail infections tend to clear up quicker than toenail infections. You may only need to take tablets for six weeks for a fingernail infection. You'll probably need to have a sample of nail sent to the laboratory for tests to make sure you have a fungal infection. The tablets can sometimes damage your liver (though this is rare) and you may have a test to check your liver is healthy before starting treatment. There are also creams, lotions and varnishes for infected nails. But normally doctors recommend tablets for this condition, although nail varnish might be prescribed if the infection is mild. If your nail infection doesn't bother you, you may wish to leave it alone.
Treatments that work:-
Itraconazole tablets (brand name Sporanox): These are antifungal tablets. They treat nail infections caused by a fungus.
Terbinafine tablets (brand name Lamisil): These are antifungal tablets. They treat nail infections caused by a fungus.
Treatments that are likely to work:-
Fluconazole tablets (brand name Diflucan): These are antifungal tablets. They treat infections caused by a fungus. But fluconazole isn't usually given to people with nail infections.
Treatments that need further study
Griseofulvin tablets (brand name Grisovin): Griseofulvin is an antibiotic and doesn't work as well as some other tablets against fungal infections.
Ketoconazole tablets (brand name Nizoral): Ketoconazole is an antifungal drug that isn't used very often because it can cause liver damage.
Creams, lotions and varnishes:- These include amorolfine (brand names Loceryl and Curanail) and tioconazole (Trosyl).
Many plants have natural antifungal properties. For example: Neem tree, tea tree, red thyme, lemon oil. These properties help plants, particularly those native to the humid Tropics, protect themselves against fungal invasion and disease. These essential oils, help eliminate nail fungus with none of the dangerous side effects seen in conventional medications and they have been tested in medical labs and proven effective to kill fungus infections. Herbal preparations are best used as early as possible where their preventative qualities help to manage long term recurring infections. Customer testimonials do report effective and satisfactory treatment. It can help some people to change their diet. This is worth considering especially if you have suffered from other fungal infections such as candida, vaginitis or jock itch. Avoid bread and yeast products (including beer). Some people have found taking supplements to be helpful in boosting the immune system.
Acidophilus- Take yogurt with live cultures or acidophilus capsules.
Beta Carotene- 25,000 IU of beta carotene.
Garlic- To boost the immune system and ward off fungal infections, take 6-8 capsules of garlic daily.
Vitamin B-complex -Take tablets daily.
Vitamin C -Take 500-3,000 mg of vitamin C in divided doses.
Vitamin D and E -Take 400 IU each of vitamins D and E.
Zinc -Take 15-50 mg of zinc. More than 15 mg of zinc should not be taken for more than a week or so without medical supervision as it may interfere with absorption of other minerals.
Hope this is of interest and assistance

Since SUVs burn too much oil & pollute more would you stop buying em if you have a friend with lung cancer?
Why even wait for the cancer? Unless you spend a good part of your driving time off road (making the clearance and power necessary) while also carrying at least four passengers (making the large interior necessary), get something smaller, and save a lot of money on the $6.00 a gallon gas we'll soon be buying.Since SUVs burn too much oil %26amp; pollute more would you stop buying em if you have a friend with lung cancer?
You are making the mistake of lumping ALL SUV's together and branding them bad, bad.
The fact is that there are MANY SUV's with VERY efficient 4 and 6 cyl engines, so shut up already.
And to answer your question: NO! 99% of the people with lung cancer get it from smoking/smokersSince SUVs burn too much oil %26amp; pollute more would you stop buying em if you have a friend with lung cancer?
Not all SUV's do this, and some of them are much more environmentally friendly than your ';average'; sedan. Examples are Honda CRV, Toyots RAV4, and Subaru Forrester.
Except in extreme cases, people wouldn't get lung cancer just from SUV's. Have you driven behind a city diesel bus or big dump truck lately?? They pollute FAR more.
I wouldn't buy an SUV unless i had many children to haul around. If i did have one and a friend had lung cancer, I don't think me getting rid of mine would solve the air pollution problem.. there are still way too many other forms of air pollution and also way too many trunks and suvs
SUV's don't burn oil jackass, study the subject matter before you ask stupid questions.
I don't buy them anyway because I can't afford to pay $75 every time I pull up to the pump.
I would stop way before that happens. For the health of both flora and fauna. Peace.
SUV=Stupid Useless Vehicle. However, they do not cause cancer. Smoking and Radon gas are the top 2 causes of Lung Cancer. Drive Station Wagons instead of SUVs. Better handling, mileage, comfort, safety, and they look cool...
lung cancer has many causes...not just pollution

What stops nations from drilling oil or gas in international waters ?
I thought nations did drill for oil in international waters, but if they don't it would probably be because the waters to deep, pirates, or some enviromental law. What stops nations from drilling oil or gas in international waters ?
Nothing.
All nations have a theoretical zone of exclusive economic use extending 200 miles from their shores.
That portion of our own shores have a lot of oil reserves, and our own stupid liberals pass idiotic laws stopping us from drilling our own oil so that we can preserve starfish that some cornball fake scientists claims is endangered.
Nobody ever stops to think ';what if the cornball is lying?'; What if he actually never counted the starfish? What stops nations from drilling oil or gas in international waters ?
That oil belongs to the Magma Men.
it's generally to deep and expensive to get at
Left-wing liberal,radical environmentalist whackos.
Seriously though.......Expense.
Apparently, nothing. I read where China is going to drill for oil in the gulf of Mexico, close to Cuba. They plan to put the pumping stations on Cuba, then sell the oil to us.
environmental conservation zones and submarine training areas.

2003 Doge Stratus the oil light comes on at stop light level is fine?
car has been serviced regularly oil change at 3,500 mile intervuls has 45,000 miles on it 2.7 engine2003 Doge Stratus the oil light comes on at stop light level is fine?
if its full of oil, then its more then likely your oil pump is going on the fritz. id go have it checked out as it is cheaper to replace the oil pump then the whole motor!!!2003 Doge Stratus the oil light comes on at stop light level is fine?
just a thought is it a hot engine light or oil light, cause sometimes they are combined and when you stop your engine isnt getting cooled by outside air. asimple check to see is put your heater on high and stop at a light or just stop if the light dont come on it could be your thermostat or water pump. if its not that get it put on a machine to see if it is more serious
I almost bought one awhile back...Did you check it out yourself or are you just going by what they tell you?? I would check the dipstick myself.. Also make sure from a professional, that the correct dipstick is in this engine. There has been cases where a wrong dipstick was used and gave a false reading.
I know u said it has regular services performed. But check the oil level, first, anyway.Check oil pressure with scanner. If u have one. If not than just install an oil Gage at the sending unit. If psi around 30 at idle OK. Replace sending unit.
could be a bad sending unit but I would have the oil pressure checked with a mechanical gauge while your changing it

Why can't America become oil independent and stop depending on thugs to sell us oil?

http://skeptically.org/oil/id12.htmlWhy can't America become oil independent and stop depending on thugs to sell us oil?
We have lots of options. but most of them are met with resistance by a special interest group.
We could.
Drill Alaska. ( Animal rights groups and environmentalist.)
Nuclear Power plants ( Environmentalist who are afraid of nuclear power even though there has never been a nuclear power accident on American soil and Aircraft carriers and submarines are run on it)
Bio diesel ( Oil companies, food industry, practical reasons)
Wind Farms ( Ted Kennedy)
There are many many ways to make ourselves energy independent, but there is alot of opposition to it. Some are reasonable opposition some are simply stupidity. Why can't America become oil independent and stop depending on thugs to sell us oil?
I think one of the hidden reasons why we still cling on to oil is because of the value of our dollar. Now that we are off the gold standard, what do we have to back the falling dollar? The two main commodities that are priced in US dollars are gold and OIL. If the Iranians get their wish and oil was priced in Euros, that would severely damage the strength of the dollar. That is one of the reasons why we desperately cling onto oil.
However, as much as I want to get off of oil, flex fuels are not a panacea either. The problem is that it takes things we already need in order to convert that to fuel. We don't have enough farmland to produce corn or any other crops to be used to make flex fuels, at least enough to satisfy our energy needs. Secondly, these are crops that we use as either food stuffs or to feed cattle. That would jack the prices of just about all food up. Also, oil has an efficient delivery system. These bio fuels don't have the infrastructure to transport these fuels efficiently and cost effectively.
I agree with you 200% on our need to get off of foreign oil and even oil. I don't think flex fuels, could do that alone. Maybe flex fuels with a combination of other alternative energies.
Because our politicians are bought and paid for by Big Oil. There is no shortage of oil. Our politicians use the excuse of environmentalism so nobody is allowed to get the oil out of the ground. Monopolies can only exist with the help of government.
We need to return to the free market. Free market nations don't have ';Energy Policies';, let alone a Department of Energy. Greed and corruption runs Washington.
When we get government out of oil production, you'll see prices dropping. The free market keeps prices low, government managed monopolies keep them high.
Energy companies are making record profits, they have no incentives to develop alternatives to oil.
too much money in keeping it they way it is now lots of huge company's would go out of business if we did and they own the lobbyist
Has to do with a lot of regulations and the environment and profit. But regardless, I agree with you, we need to be doing our own thing.
Because Cheney invited the oil company CEOs to write the energy policy and there is no way they are going to add any money in the policy for researching alternative fuels.
And you have two oil shills as President and VP.
Because that would hurt the profit of the oil companies...
That's it -- bottom line, their profits (and their lobbyists) are what keep us oil-dependent.
Because the tree hugging liberal hippies won't let us drill in Alaska or Florida.
because liberals won't let us drill our own oil and build more refineries.
I was honestly shocked to learn that Conoco Philips and Exxon Mobile refused to bow to Chavezs nutty demands and have begun a pull out of what amounts to 15 billion dollars in investments. Now I feel a little less pissed as I pump. Can you imagine how bad Chavez must be that our own oil cartel wont do buisness with him. Incredible. I say the development of oil independent technology has to be driven by consumer demand. I will tell you this. I am in the market for a new cart and have already decided I will not accept less that 30 MPG fuel eficiency. This is triple what I get in my pickup. I still need the truck for work and horses but I will drive the car whenever I can. Any recommendations?
Uh....Well Colorado,Texas and Alaska have more oil then the entire Middle East, Afirca and Venezuela....Oh, but that's right. We are not allowed to Drill here anymore. We haven't built a Refinery in 40 years.
Goota keep the Great Horned Owls happy though!!!!!
They can talk all the **** they want, when it comes down to it they need us as much as we need them. They need our money just as much as we need their oil, its a mutual understanding.
Because the right wing gets their orders from the oil companies--that's why.
And their solutions (e.g. ';tap the ANWR';) are nonsensical. Even if we did--it wouldn't get--or keep--us independant for more than a few years--quite aside from the ecological issues the right sneers at.
But--let someone try to et the car companies to improve gas mileage (which is the same it was 25 years ago--and we had the technology to do better THEN--much less now) and the rneocons start whining they have a ';right'; to drive gas hogs--and then whine about dependance on foreign oil.
Yet that one change could make us oil independant--permanantly. Bottom line: having your cake and eating it too DOES NOT WORK.
';Its all about the Benjamins.';
No one wants a refinery in their backyard. No company wants to spend a few billion dollars to get one up and running to reduce profit. Current politicians are kept in power with oil lobbyist money. Switching to a flex fuel infrastructure would cost a buttload.
Because the leader of our country has friends that run the oil companies. And we can't cut back because of so many people driving gas guzzling vehicles. Besides Brazil uses sugar cane which is cheaper and more effeicent than corn or wheat so it would probably cost more
';If they attack us again like they did in April of 2002 ... there will be no oil.';

';Its all about the Benjamins.';
