Olive oil in cat's meals, shall stop shedding?

Will Olive oil or Vegetable oil or something stop a cat from shedding fur all over the place? Will the cat be hot if it does work and I put the oil in their food?????? Thanks Community.Olive oil in cat's meals, shall stop shedding?
Sorry, nope. Cats shed and there's really nothing you can do about it. You just need to brush your cat. The Furminator is an awesome brush, if used properly, and takes out a TON of loose hair. It's a little more expensive than your average grooming implements but it's totally worth it.


Also, watch it with the oil. You maybe end up dealing with kitty diarrhea. :(

Nothing STOPS shedding - it's the natural process of hair growth.





Do you GROOM your cat? If this is a shorthaired cat you should be brushing it at least once a week with a slicker brush or Zoom Groom. If this is a longhaired cat you should COMB the coat. Brushes do little to remove the dead hairs of the undercoat on a longhaired cat and can pull out and break topcoat hairs. A good quality steel toothed comb will gently remove the dead hairs of the undercoat and leave the topcoat hairs intact.





Another thing that contributes to excessive shedding is a poor diet. What are you feeding your cat? Odds are it's a cheap dry food made mostly of corn. Switch your cat to a healthier food with MEAT as the main ingredient. Also don't feed your cat a dry food only diet - that's very bad for them. Give it quality canned food as well.





EDIT: only use the ';Furminator'; someone recommended if you don't mind destroying your cat's coat. This ';miracle'; tool is actually quite horrible and anyone who cares how their cat looks would never touch it.
I don't think so. Why would you want the cat to stop shedding it's fur? It's a normal, natural process. Otherwise the fur is all old and nasty. Ah....you don't want it all over the place....understandable. The best thing to do is to be in control of the shedding, which is by brushing the cat as often as you can tolerate it. At least once a week, more if it doesn't help the problem. That way all the hair goes into the brush and into the garbage can rather than on your couch or your new sweater.
cats shed and that's the end of it. putting oil in thier food will give them a shinier, healthier coat and skin, however, so it is a good idea. no more than a teaspoon, however.





to keep the shedding under control- try brushing them with a pet brush or any brush for an hour a day. it will cut down on the amount of fur that ends up on your stuff and the cat might like it, too!
