Is there any additives i can add to my engine to help stop it from burning so much oil?

My engine is burning oil. I just head the head rebuilt and i thought that was going to take care of the problem, but it didnt. Its smokeing alot out my tail pipe is there any additives anyone could recommend to put in while the oil is fresh and the head is fresh?

thanksIs there any additives i can add to my engine to help stop it from burning so much oil?
change your oil to a thicker oil like castrol 20-w-50 and then ads stp oil treatment to it,that will slow it down a lot,but not completely stop it,but it will help some, good luck.Is there any additives i can add to my engine to help stop it from burning so much oil?
You need to define what burning oil is.. how many miles do you drive before you have to add a quart of oil?

also need to state year/make/model/mileage

If you're burning oil, the smoke out of the tailpipe will be blueish in color.

You can try using Lucas Oil Stabilizer, if that doesn't help you'll need to try %26amp; do some tuning.
A thicker oil will help a little bit but new rings or a complete rebuild is probably what you need.
make sure its oil your burning, what color is the smoke, blue or white? and check your piston rings that could be a source for burning oil if one is busted. Also if you added too much oil during your last change it will burn some oil.
i would go back adn see if you have a warranty on the head(s) work that was done. you only get oil into the combustion chamber by one of two ways, either the heads ( valve guides or stem seals) or the piston rings could be worn out. it all depends on the mileage of the vehicle. i am curious why the heads were condemned in the first place.
You can use a thicker weight oil or you can use any of the oil additives that stop/slow down the burning of oil ( by thickening the oil up so it has a harder time getting into the cylinders ).

Just keep in mind though that these are band-aid solutions and only mask the problem They don't actually fix the problem. I recommend finding out why the engine is burning oil and fixing the problem properly.
thicker oil only helps a little, save your money with all these gimmicks, and make sure the oil level stays full. I;ve has many small cars use oil, no problem just keep it filled. , but if shes smoking alot then it could be rings, who did the head, they should of told you about your smoking problem. what color smoke. need more info. how many miles on car
While it was apart you should have had new pistons and rings along with a valve job.

Years ago I had an old truck that was burning oil and I used a can of RESTORE. It didn't stop oil burn but slowed it down some. LUCAS makes some products also.
lucas
you have bad piston rings and the engine needs rebuilt, no additive is going to help that problem, the only thing you might try is using a heavier weight oil to slow down the burning.
