Why are Democrats stopping oil drilling on lands that are already leased and paid for by the drillers?

Again and again they prevent drilling when the oil co has paid for the lease rights to drill. This is happening here in MI. Every well is challenged in court by liberals.Why are Democrats stopping oil drilling on lands that are already leased and paid for by the drillers?

we were in a state of emergency 35 years ago, i remember 73, when there were people waiting in line for gas i remember the fights!!


that was 35 years ago so why all of a sudden is it such a big deal......we shouldn't even have a need for oil


you blame the Democrats they blame the Republicans and nobody meets in the middle.


I blame both party's, but more importantly i blame the American people. it's easy to lose sight of what's right and wrong when you don't involve yourself and all you do is sit back in your own little world.

we should all wake up and get involved, we put them in office and they believe that we have forgotten the we can have them removed.

3 reasons:





1- They believe if we drill in Alaska, we may somehow hurt the local environment. They don't care that its a very small area that is to be drilled and the impact will be small.


2- They believe that the less oil we have, the faster we will develop other energy sources, such as electric cars.


3- Democrats HATE corporations, especially Oil companies. To them, they are the essence of evil. Anything they can do to cause them a hard time, is good, in their minds.
You have that absolutely backwards.





Nancy Pelosi has threatening Exxon with withdrawing the options they have been sitting on for decades to drill on thousands of square miles of oil rich Federal lands, because they refuse to develop them.





In the mean time Bush says he is going to defy common sense and dictatorially cancel the ban on off-shore drilling. The big question is why? Not only are there no rigs available to drill off-shore, the facilities for building them no longer exist.





All a bunch of Republican grandstanding designed to mislead the more feebleminded voters.
One doesn't need a reference to read in the news media, that Bush has been engaged head on with the Democrats, just as every other Republican president for the past 35 years, to open oil drilling.


If they (DEMOCRATS) had not been bought by the environmental lobbyists all those years ago, we would have operational fields NOW. And now, it's too little too late, so thank the Dems on this ALONE.
It鈥檚 not the democrats stopping oil development on leased lands. If you have a lease, you are legally able to develop it. It is our judicial system that allows citizens the right to redress, so groups might be able to take the company to court. They would have to show legitimate reasons for interrupting the oil company development or it鈥檚 called frivolous and the group could be held liable for any and all extra costs in the delay.
The Democrats are PLAYING GAMES.


They don't want any drilling. Period.





First they stop the drilling on the leased land with law suits.


Then they refuse to open up offshore lands by saying that the oil companies aren't drilling on the leases that they already have.


So whose fault is that?


The Democrats.





The high price of gasoline is the Democrats fault.


The price has DOUBLED since they took over CONGRESS.





Then they pull CRAP like this.


How stupid do they think the American people are?





All the Democrats chant is ';alternative energy';


Are we supposed to park our cars until they come up with it.

There are plenty of polluting factories that I'm sure should be shut down for incredible pollution even though they are operating legally.
I think they do want the economy to go down the tubes! These are some evil people in congress, I think they are possessed by SATAN! California is the worst! I think the Earthquakes woke up the evil demons and took over their souls in Calfornia! The 1/2 thats still decent humans in California must live outside the cities.
80% of the oil from Alaska pipeline goes to


China. China can drill off the gulf coast of


Mexico by Cuba for oil but we can't. The


way it's going, it won't be called America

anything about this for a long time. Now Bush


is finally pushing it.
Because they enjoy buying oil from people that hate us and boosting their economy so they can afford munitions and armies.





I would not be surprised if Saudi Arabia lobbys the Dems as well. We wouldn't be aware because that would be close to treason, but I'm guessing the congress off shore accounts are bulging.
Because the Democrats want higher Gasoline Prices at $5.00 a gallon. Then they can blame their destructive Democrat startegies on President Bush, who just lifted the off shore ban on Oil Drilling. John McCain for President.
They're not preventing anything. The oil companies have millions of acres they can drill on already and they don't use them. Besides domestic drilling won't help us.
Any oil found along our coasts wouldn鈥檛 be available until 2030.2 By then it would only add to the oil industry鈥檚 tens of billions of dollars in record profits 鈥?at the cost of our nation鈥檚 pristine beaches and wild places.
Because that's the ';Change We Believe In'; . . . Forget Oil and Feed the Poor.
Let Pelosi know that Americans are wanting to drill!
