What would happen if we stopped buying oil from the middle east. would the price go down?

would they starve to death not that i care. I mean they only pay $.73 for about agallon of gas over here. What would happen if we stopped buying oil from the middle east. would the price go down?
We don't buy very much oil from the Middle East. The 3 biggest countries that we import from are Canada, Mexico, and Venezuela, and they make up about 75% or so of our imports.

I think we get about 10% from the ME.

So I doubt the price would drop appreciably. What would happen if we stopped buying oil from the middle east. would the price go down?
NO, the price would remain the same because demand and supply would remain the same. the only way to reduce the cost of oil is to reduce the demand by using alternate fuels or cutting consumption. that is not going to happen in the near future, so get used to the high price of gasoline. Do what you can to reduce your own consumption of energy.
NIce in theory, but it won't happen.

We are too dependent on oil. Is everyone in America going to take a bicycle to work? Are windmills and solar farms going to pop up overnight to take the place of oil burning electrical plants? Are manufacturers going to discover some sort of magical product to take the place of oil in manufacturing?

At least in the short term, conservation has to be part of the answer. Other options, such as drilling for new sources and developing new fuels are going to take at least five years.
Yeah, the price would drop, but not to the where we would be paying .73. The rest of the world still needs oil. And they wouldn't starve for a long time. They are already very very rich. Lastly, we would starve from lack of oil. You think we are in a recision now, it would be the downfall of our country.
You are asking the wrong question. The reason oil prices are so high is because of monopoly. And monopolies can only function with the help of government.

To lower oil prices, we need to return to the Free Market. This means abolishing the unconstitutional Department of Energy. Free countries do not have an ';energy policy';. The REAL purpose of the ';energy policy'; is to ensure maximum profits for the big oil companies. Our politicians are being subsidized by big oil, and big oil takes care of them when they retire, or get voted out of office.

The Environmental Movement is financed by the big oil companies. It's purpose is to stop oil exploration and exploitation, thereby stifling competition, and creating an artificial ';shortage';.

The solution is to get government out of the way, and have real competition in energy production. As long as politicians are subsidized by big oil, corrupt courts side with the Environmentalists, and mainstream media continue to provide reasons why we can't drill for oil, we can expect to see prices for oil rise.

Incidentally, many of our politicians, top executives in the big oil companies, executives in major media, and high officials in the judiciary all belong to the same club. It's called the Council on Foreign Relations. Go to their website: www.cfr.org and read their membership list. Maybe you'll see the connection.
The price would drop a bit, but it would hurt us, we need gas to get to work and transport goods. China and India would love us as their gas prices declined, Europe would love us too.
And how would food and other goods be transported to stores and I know most people could not ride a bike or walk to work..nice idea but won't work
No. We get less than 20% of our oil from the Middle East. We should invade Venezuela, they pay $0.14 per gallon.

Why don't we just stop buying Iranian and Venezuelan oil?

Because worldwide oil distribution is a complex, tangled, 40 year old matrix and would wreak havoc throughout every country. Not that I would mind. Why don't we just stop buying Iranian and Venezuelan oil?
The solution is not that simple. Until we seriously pursue alternative fuel sources and actually make some headway on resource conservation, we are held hostage by whoever is willing to sell us oil. There are too many in our country that because of where they live in relation to their employment, don't truly have an adequate opportunity to reduce their consumption. Realistic expansion of work at home or significant improvements in public transportation can make a difference but those options have their own limitations in certain areas and fields. Gasoline has gone up in my area by roughly 22% in less than one month. If we simply stop buying oil from Venezuela and Iran or OPEC, I cannot imagine the increase we would see at the pump. If you don't use much gas now, you may not recognize or care that many are in situations where their consumption is not optional. You might not quickly be hurt personally from a significant cost increase but many would. Everyone would eventually suffer because of the impact on food prices and the cost of consumer goods. We need to capitalize on our available domestic resources while avidly pursuing oil's replacement in our economy or we are screwed. If we don't get serious, we are probably screwed anyway. Why don't we just stop buying Iranian and Venezuelan oil?
The U.S. doesn't buy oil. Oil companies buy it and import it and sell it, and they buy it on the world market from commodoties holders not from an individual country necessarily.

And because there is plenty of worldwide demand for oil, if we don't buy oil that originates in certain countries there are buyers lined up around the block to buy it.
We still have to buy it from somewhere and it won't effect Market Prices. What we need to do in the US is boycott ONE of the big oil conglomerates. I saw a chain letter that totally made total sense.

Instead of the don't buy for a day nonsense Kill Exxon/Mobil stop buying from just them period.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oI5EY5kqi鈥?/a>
That was asked years ago, and the reason we can't is that oil is fluid. (Pun intended.) It is a marketplace where all oil is considered the same. Someone else can buy and sell on the market. The only way to interrupt would be to blockade both countries. (That did not work with Iraq while Saddam was there.)
they don't need us to buy it... it's a world market... in fact I don't think we do buy much from them... but it's really all the same...

it's like buying from one starbucks or another starbucks...it's basically all the same in the end...
Because we are the biggest consumer of petroleum in the world and have to get it where we can to satisfy demand.

That might be possible in the future if US demand was drastically reduced.
The first post is absolutely right.

The demand for oil in America is so high..why?..Simply because Americans are obsessed with driving vehicles that consume large amounts of fuel, for their ';pleasure';...go figure.
Because of the high demand for oil. America doesn't have enough of it's own oil resources.
Why not?
agreed.

Now If I can only get everyone else to quit driving the trucks and SUV's that are driving our need to purchase oil from these countries......
Oil is bought and sold on global markets. It's sort of like cocaine. You don't ask where it comes from.
Most of our oil comes from Mexico and Canada.
I wish it was just that easy, but if it means I have to stop driving my Silverado, oh well...
You do realize, that even with the invasion in Iraq the U.S. still faces oil shortage, right?
because its cheap and the corporate pigs want the US to be the last country with oil
Because you'd drive up the price of the remaining supply.
Because our hover crafts aren't ready yet.
yeah that has to be the worst idea i have heard in a long time. no offence:)
Yes, we should cut off our nose and spite our face. Dumb. How about a better idea?
I think we should just take it.

Applying jojoba oil on my face (should i stop)?

my skin starts peeling when i sleep; why is that? should i stop using jojoba oil? i'm not sure i used the right word, but it looks like it's been peeling.

thanxApplying jojoba oil on my face (should i stop)?
I don't think this is the jojoba oil because it is meant to hydrate skin and it is close to a chemical we find in our skin already so it is unlikely you are allergic or anything.

Why don't you stop for a week and if the peeling continues you know it is not the jojoba oil.x

Am I weird: I like to rub baby oil on my nipples. My mom caught me doing it. SHould I stop this behavior?

I mean, whenever i am bored, i like to get my trusty bottle of baby oil out and rub my nipples with them. It is just a great feeling in which I get really excited. Should I be doing this? By the way, I am a dude.Am I weird: I like to rub baby oil on my nipples. My mom caught me doing it. SHould I stop this behavior?
Whatever kinky private time you enjoy needs to be kept private, as in, closing and locking your door so your mother doesn't catch you doing anything.Am I weird: I like to rub baby oil on my nipples. My mom caught me doing it. SHould I stop this behavior?
Why not? As long as you are enjoying iot. Just try and not get caught next time.
no, thats perfectly fine, but getting caught is another thing
If it doesn't harm anyone else I don't see the problem. That is to say, if you pay for your own baby oil.
Whatever blows your hair back man.

If stop rain at all what we do and if oil finish what happen ?

    no rain we die

no oil we liveIf stop rain at all what we do and if oil finish what happen ?
If there is no rain then everything living would perish,

if all the oil runs out then running machines would be difficult but not impossible. If stop rain at all what we do and if oil finish what happen ?
There is life in deserts which have Very little rain fall o life could still be supported and seas could be desalinated .If there were no oil then the middle east would become less interesting
    its the end of life

How can we stop the high increase of oil?

The only way to really bring down the price of oil permanently is by creating a viable substitute. Increasing production, opening up new refineries, going after oil speculators, improving relationships with oil rich countries will only help in the short term. The reality is that as population increases, and as countries continue to develop the need for energy will increase along with the demand for oil.

Governments need to take the lead and promote innovation to improve and create technologies that can power us into the future. I believe that government can give away grants, funding, and incentives to push for the development of technologies. Many argue that we need to shift to nuclear energy but the only problem with that is the nuclear energy is not an universally accepted option due to the negative stigma associated with it and the fact that nuclear waste is hard to transport, store.

It will be very interesting to see what innovations are created in the coming years as a response to the current demands for new energy production. How can we stop the high increase of oil?
In the long term, the only way is to use less. In the long run, supply and demand takes over, and there are no ideas on the table that will increase supply by more than a few percent. That includes driving more fuel efficient vehicles, creating electricity from things other than oil (hydro, wind, nuclear), and setting up proper public transit systems so people have to drive and fly less.

In the short term, ending the saber-rattling between the US/Israel and Iran would help a lot. One of the immediate worries of the world is that there will be a war and Iran will cut of oil exports and blockade the Persian gulf so even uninvolved gulf states will not be able to export. If the risk of that happening goes down, so will the price. How can we stop the high increase of oil?
For now, it'd be nice if the Federal Reserve took aggressive actions against speculators. That would take away the commodities bubble and lower the price of oil a little.

In the long run, we need to invest in new technologies. There is no real other way.

Off shore drilling will only affect our economy about 20 years down the line, just like Alaskan drilling 20 years ago is doing now.
is actually sad that the hydrogen car is first introduce in our country a decade ago, but now its already running thru the technology of HONDA, i guess if only our government think of the future before i guess we were able to use it here in the philippines or develop it wise and dont be affected to tax weve got accumulated from oil compainies were like held in our neck. and nothing to do about it in a moment, bit i belive we can do on it in quite some time , promote renewable energy.
Go after oil speculators. Build more nuclear power plants, and build more oil refineries.
Invent a car powered by water.
    tumbling after
we should stop using things that need oil

Would liberals support drilling for oil here in the USA if it was the way to stop the importing of Arab oil?

Libs like to make Arabs rich so Arabs can threaten us.Would liberals support drilling for oil here in the USA if it was the way to stop the importing of Arab oil?
We've been drilling for oil here in the USA for a hundred years. And we are still drilling here. But no matter how much we try to expand the drilling here, that would not satisfy demand. There is just not enough oil left in the US. The only way to reduce the need for foreign oil is for us to become more energy efficient, and to transition to other energy sources.Would liberals support drilling for oil here in the USA if it was the way to stop the importing of Arab oil?
    More neo-con chickenhawk logic-the oil drilled for here would go on the world maket and not affect gas prices-it would only create a few more millionaires-they need to quit giving the oil industry ';billion dollar subsides'; the oil companies are our biggest ';welfare Queens.';
Perhaps, if there were enough oil in the US to make up for the Arab oil, which there isn't.
We have plenty of oil here in North America, the reserves are being sold to China to raise the price. The oil companies refuse to build any new refineries with their record profits and gouging. The Iraq oil is being pipe-lined to Israel too, this is under HUGE scrutiny bud, as everyone in North America is paying the difference. I live in Canada too by the way, and have duel citizenship. I'm from Indiana originally. I now receive the true news that isn't censored by the Bush Administration, but go figure...Ey
Well I suppose I am a liberal by your definition since I, like Jimmy Carter, think Bush is the worst President ever.

Apparently you are kinda misinformed though. A lot of oil gets drilled here in the USA and I, as a liberal, have no problem with that. Also, you are deluded if you think the USA has enough oil in the ground here to replace the oil we import, so the question is moot.

I am also for drilling oil in Alaska's nature preserves so long as laws are established that will actually protect the environment from utter destruction by ravenous oil corporations that have no regard for the environment.
Like above, the not in my back yard liberals would come out...also it would lose a valuable political posturing stance..if we eliminated dependency that they then can use to political advantage in blaming the opposing party.....
The problem with this is that it is only a short term answer and Republicans are great at short term fixes. Sure it would be great if that was a way to stop the importing of oil from Arab nations, unfortunately, I dont think that is the goal of this administration and its friends at Shell, BP, etc.
Sure..although we can drill all we want, but it won't help until we build enough refineries
If it would solve our long-term oil crisis, yes. The problem is that it won't. Look at ANWR - The U.S. Geological Survey estimates there are 3.2 billion barrels of oil there. This sounds like a lot, but we Americans are currently consuming 7.1 billion barrels a year. At best, ANWR would provide a six-month supply of oil. ANWR is not even remotely a solution for our energy problems.

Oil is a drug, and we Americans are addicts. We represent 4 percent of the world鈥檚 population, yet we consume 25 percent of the world鈥檚 oil production. In 1975 we imported 35 percent of our oil; we now purchase 54 percent from abroad, and unless we change our behavior, we will import 70 percent of our oil by 2025.

The only solution to our energy problems is conservation. There is much we could do to reduce our dependence on oil. Increasing average fuel efficiency to 39 miles a gallon, something we have the ability to do now, would save 51 billion barrels of oil over the next 50 years. This is 15 times more oil than we could get from ANWR. Our current fuel-efficiency standards are 25 years old and were written before we evolved into a nation of SUV drivers. This administration has created loopholes exempting vehicles weighing more than 8,500 pounds (such as the Hummer H2) from any fuel-efficiency standards whatsoever, and efforts to fund solar- and wind-energy programs have been repeatedly rejected.

If it meant we would never need to rely on Arab oil again, yes, I would support drilling in ANWR. It'll never happen...
    if there was oil here
    Why not?
yes and no. why do we need to drill more,it hasnt been stopped. in the 70s two presidents(from both parties)had good energy policies, they were both ignored. BTW. look into who got the alaska pipeline through
    sure.

lets start in your back yard.
no, I think they would be more willing to support Bio fuels and renewable resouces, like alcohol based fuel,Bio-deisel, hydrogen, and electro hybreds
do you really think it's liberals blocking it? we are just the scape goat. The government is saving our supply so that when the rest of the world runs out.. we make a killing.

    that's my opinion.

But I've never opposed a couple more wells.. so long as they don't go overboard.
no, this liberal wouldn't. it's clear that oil is a finite commodity. the preservation of our fast disappearing resources is of paramount importance. there are many other options for energy development and usage. monies should be spent by the government to hasten the develop the large scale creation and usage of alternative energy sources. of course, that would bring bush and company into conflict with their own oil interests.....
Most liberals are elitists who have plenty of money to buy gas at any price. They don't care one iota about common people like me. No they don't want drilling.
Dig away. It's not just tree huggers who don't want drilling. Some major campaign funders don't want it either. They make their monies on importing the product. They don't want to lose that money.

Many of the oil tycoons didn't get rich on digging in the USA.

When will people wake up and smell the stinch in thier own parties?
We could start GROWING oil any time we choose.

The diesel motor, because of its incredible compression, will run perfectly well on vegetable oil. In colder climates, you might need to use petrodiesel to get started and warm up the engine (and the vegetable oil tank), but in most of the US it would work fabulously if the supply chain weren't as spotty as it is.

Think about the industrial revitalization we could enjoy if we were to build that infrastructure, employ all of those farmers, engineers, fitters, chemists, and so on. We could end agricultural and petroleum subsidies, and begin transforming our society into an efficient, renewable diesel-based transportation system, and tell the ragheads to get fukt.
I would support driving a Magic School Bus if that was the way to avoid oil dependence. But, like your ridiculous premise, it's completely impossible, as other posters have pointed out.
Would anyone support alternative fuels to oil if we could come up with alternatives right now? Are we so addicted to oil that we have to have a fix every day or we are afraid something will happen to us if we don't? Alternatives would not only stop our dependance on foreign oil , we could sell the technology to others so they are not dependant on Arab oil and thus put Americans to work in the R %26amp; D and manufacture of such things. It would also help with people's conserns for the environment.

  • Would wiping the oil off your pizza help stop acne? lol my friend said that ...?

nope!! oily foods dont cause acne. its just the oil on your skin!!Would wiping the oil off your pizza help stop acne? lol my friend said that ...?
No.... not really it'll just put tissue stuff on it and makes you somewhat less fat (calories)Would wiping the oil off your pizza help stop acne? lol my friend said that ...?
Nope.....but wiping off the oil on your face sure helps!
I dont know if it helps, but I do it because it grosses me out!
Wiping oil from your pizza will not prevent acne. Acne can be caused by hormonal changes in your body. Sometimes, you will break out because of stress.

Get into a good skin care routine so you will have less acne. Also, make sure you drink plenty of water. Water helps the skin stay hydrated.

    Hope this helps!

Help with car oil leak and how to stop it?

i have a vw and i found were an oil leak is coming from it is next /under the cap were u pour the oil in so on the side there is a plug kinda thing (that is were it leaks from) that has like a wire coming out of it and runs across to the other side almost by were the accelerator is at any idea what it is or how to stop the leak thxHelp with car oil leak and how to stop it?
The thing with the wire is the oil pressure sensor and they are notorious for leaking. If you can unscrew it and wrap some teflon tape arounf the thread and screw it back it may stop the leak. BUT the sensors themselves often leak so you may need a new one--just a few dollars. The wore is a push-on connector. It is also possible oil is coming up around the distributor right nearby. There is an inexpensive rubber ring on the distributor which can be replaced.Help with car oil leak and how to stop it?
Check to see if the plug is bad or if it is just not connected correctly.

At construction site, for a injury[wound not exposed] to stop pain break oil of vehicle are applied is it ok?

NO!! That's ridiculous. There is nothing in brake fluid that will help and it may contain toxic materials that could be absorbed through the skin. That is a very, very stupid thing to do.At construction site, for a injury[wound not exposed] to stop pain break oil of vehicle are applied is it ok?
break oil is for vehicle, why would you put it to your body are you bionic?the break oil will be absorb by your skin creating much trouble to your skin, liver or kidney.use hot or cold compress instead

Can I use an oil additive to stop my rear main seal leak?

I have a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited with a 5.2 liter V8. It has 167,000 miles on it. My rear main seal is leaking a little. No oil had touched the drive way but you can see that oil is slowly but surely leaking out around the seal. I can either get it repaired this week or try Bars leak rear main seal repair. I dont mind going the cheap route but I dont want to end up with more problems than I already have. Will this formula really work to stop my leak? Can I use an oil additive to stop my rear main seal leak?
It may slow it down. The only true fix is to replace the seal. Can I use an oil additive to stop my rear main seal leak?
For awhile it might. These products often work by softening the seal allowing it to maintain better contact with the rear main bearing. At best this is a temporary fix.
No, It might help alittle but what other problems might it cause to .
I've used it in tens of motors without any problems later. It seems to be one of those myths that it doesn't work judging by the answers here. The last time someone asked that same question all the internet mechanics said that it hardens the seals later.A good product is called Main-Sta.It dried up all the seals in my 1993 Grand Cherokee 5.2L.That was 10 years ago and 100,000 miles later still no leaks.
    no, it';s a waist of money,have it replaced .
Most ';stop leak'; products are meant as a temporary fix at best. They are designed to allow you to drive the vehicle for a short period of time until you can get it fixed properly. If you are financially able and willing to have the vehicle's leak repaired this week, I'd skip the additives and just have it fixed asap. Good luck!
Nope, They haven't figured out how to get a mechanic in the can yet. Do not add the stop leak, it will do more harm than good, it will soften the seal chemically and cause it to expand. It also degrades the seal material. It will only cause premature failure of the seal. Plus it will react on all the engine oil seals causing the valve guide seals , front crankshaft seal and others to start leaking prematurely.

If it's not dripping the seal is probably OK, There is an amount of ';normal'; weepage from any rotating shaft seal. If a shop is trying to sell you the rear main job, get another opinion. Maybe things were slow, Christmas is coming the guy needs the money, His kids need shoes. He's thinking he needs it more than you, you're thinking different.

Oil stop leak is a waste of money and if it's really leaking you will still be contaminating the ground as you drive. You'll have to get it done. Trans has to come out.

What will happen if Muslims stop buying us&israeli products&stop selling them oil?

Why muslims buy (made in usa %26amp; made in israel )products and give our money to them to kill us with it?

Why muslim countries dont stop selling OIL to usa%26amp;israel,that they use to fuel their warplanes and tanks to kill us with?

I think if more than 1bilion Muslim stoped buying anything from usa and stop taking any aid from them, and in the same time stoped selling them our OIL,then their economy will suffer%26amp; only then they will stop their agression against Muslims and give us back our lands %26amp; rights .

And in the same time their is a lot of other alternatives for us to buy our needs from (like china , india,,,,,etc) .

but they dont have alternatives for OUR oil,and without it ,their economy wont run! What will happen if Muslims stop buying us%26amp;israeli products%26amp;stop selling them oil?
We have already done it and it works.

Iran didn't / doesn't sell oil and gas to US companies directly (Perhaps they buy our oil and gas of other brokers) also we don't buy anything of them for more than 27 years.

Usually, US threats other independent countries to boycotting them and I can tell you, we don't have any problem.

Actually, these situations are became us more independent.

Recently, Iran is going to sell its oil and gas with other currencies, such as Euro, etc. This act can involve US aggressive policy with some new troubles ;)

Iran didn't / doesn't accredit Israel. We don't accredit any other country in that region except of Palestine. So Iran didn't / doesn't have any business with Israelis.

    Iran ignored them for ever.

Also, US invaded and occupied Iraq just for oil and control over ';Persian Gulf'; as a strategic place where some oil and gas producers are there.

Obviously they want to have enough control over oil producers and oil consumers, including China, India, Japan, Korea, Western European countries, etc. What will happen if Muslims stop buying us%26amp;israeli products%26amp;stop selling them oil?
As Americans, we begin tapping our reserves and our own rich oil supply. When that was brought up recently the Arab leaders were over here begging us not to. Its a two way street. You think Americans are bad, wait until you're controlled by a communist country. tee hee......have at it.
well bcoz we(muslims!) have to....i am a quite realistic guy and a firm believer in superiority of west in science, philosophy, art and manufacturing....so just suppose that if muslims stop buying westerm products;what would be the repercussions for them, particularly the dumb species of middle east...since its now a universal fact that arabs are intellectualy the most inferior race on planet earth, keeping in mind that they couldn,t even extract oil from their lands(US,France,GB and Germany started this task in early 20th century)and having abundant resources and wealth dont produce a single damn product of some worth....these pathetic arabs would be the 1st casuality of this DESIRED boycott and would have to switch to camels for transportation....i am in favour of having a conducive enviorenment between east and west to achieve some degree of peace and harmony....i am pretty much sure this question was posted by some dumb arab.
we will build an oil platform 12 miles off the coast in international waters and take ';our'; oil. Just what lands and rights have we taken? Did you cheer when the twin towers fell? You brought the war to us! It was your moronic jihadists that you can blame for every death by accident, combat or terrorism. Your whole economy is based on America BUYING your oil. You would be living in a mud hut in a month, although you probably already are. Your monarch, king or royal family wouldnt do it because of their own wealth.

You dont want America fighting in your lands? Then do something about the terrorists instead of cheering them on.

In this day and age of reason even you cant truly believe that your God condones what you do.
I am a US citizen and have lived in the middle east for nearly 2 years. All you have to do is go to the shopping malls and see that 90% of the things for sale (clothes, automobiles, appliances, computers, software, etc.) are made in the west. Heck, with the exception of dates and lambs the USA feeds most of the middle east and the world! And let's talk about drinking water.... If we hadn't designed, built and maintained the desalination plants in the middle east, you would be hurting for water. I suggest we start selling you water at say, $7.00 a gallon or exchanging 1 barrel of water for 1 barrel of oil and see which country's economy prospers. And I have some more news for you...without the US/western spare parts for your military and civilian equipment you would be back in the age of the horse and buggy. Also, no one is forcing any of the 1 billion Muslims you mention to take American aid. Feel free to turn it down down next time some one offers it. And finally, why is it that none of your ARAB brothers from Iraq, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, etc. have donated 300,000 square kilometers of their country's land to to crate a new Palestine? It all comes down to greed and maintaining their own power, right?
Demand for carpets and bacon will drop. So what.
Ha ha ha. You are ignorant. Without the income from the US, what would happen to the economies of these Middle Eastern countries?

Tell you what, why don't you stop buying American products? Let us all know how your boycott goes.

By the way, I recently started drinking Carlsberg beer ;-)
Greed drives everybody and especially the muslims
If middle eastern countries stopped selling oil to the U.S. than that would cripple middle eastern economies (since most of their oil comes to the U.S.) and the U.S. would start getting oil from somewhere else.

The boycott of U.S. products by middle eastern countries would not be enough to cause any major changes in the U.S. economy.

For one thing, the U.S. produces very few physical products anymore. The U.S. economy is service rather than product based.

The majority of the services sold to people in the middle east are sold to the members of the Royal families in Saudi Arabia and Jordan. It is highly unlikely that the Royals are going to give up the services that they receive here.
You are not too smart. I wish you wouldn't buy our products. I wish we wouldn't buy your oil. Although we really don't need to buy your oil or don't need you to buy our products.

    Great idea.
They claim to hate us, but love the American Dollar, how hypocritical!
    I agree with you

but the point is why the arabic leaders (saudi, kuwaith,UEA,jordan, egypt, and other) are so dumb and buy US and israel products and sell them oil

I think we all should personally prevent ourselves from buying Israel,US products

Oh, by the way, i need lists of us, israel products or company that support israel?

    Long Live Muslim!
great let us start today see who suffers the most
we'll just have to bomb 'em back to the stone age and take it

I'm trying to stop smoking weed oil

ive also tried getting addicted to cigarettes and cigars but i really cant get hooked on that. I'm trying to stop smoking weed oil
I'm totally blown away...do you have a question in specific?

Any chronic airway irritant you're exposed to is extremely detrimental to the normal function of your lungs. Please do what you can to not become addicted, this is your body telling you to stop!

    God bless.

  • Do oil companies really believe we are stupid? Will we ever stop getting screwed at the pumps?

Nope, just keep bending over. What was ExxonMobil's profit last year? $38 billion?Do oil companies really believe we are stupid? Will we ever stop getting screwed at the pumps?
They don't think we are stupid, they KNOW we don't have much choice in the matter. They are not regulated anymore, ( They used to be ). As long as we have this Administration in power at the White House, we are putty in their hands, or dollars in their pockets.Do oil companies really believe we are stupid? Will we ever stop getting screwed at the pumps?
Thank Bush for it all hahahahaha...but to answer your question: no, they do not think we are stupid--we are the consumers, and secondly, we won't always be screwed at the pumps because we will nationally switch to hybridization and such..................
Its simple supply vs. demand. We really are stupid if you think about, most people are extremely dumb when it comes to money.
Prices are a mechanism to control a scarce resource. We think the oil companies make large profits and they do. However, much of the money comes back into the economy via different ways. They spend the money and keeps some in the bank. most are actaully not very bright when it comes to dealing with the economy.
The goverment is making all the money. Oil companies keep 10 cents on the gallon.
Fact is petroleum is getting scarcer. There is nowhere for prices to go but up, over the next decade or so. The USA and Australia still have relatively cheap fuel by world standards. Even at US$5.00 per US gallon it would be cheaper than many European prices now.
    YES. NO.
Big Oil's got to make money too. Don't forget that some of the refineries are down and the mess in the Middle East. Get a smaller, more fuel efficient car. I drive a '99 Cavalier that gets about 26 mpg

Brown's plan to lower oil prices by increasing North Sea production. Like eating the seed to stop the famine?

I'm no enemy of Brown. But surely you don't solve an oil crises by scrapping the bottom of the barrel further - it will only bring the end of British oil sooner.

Strikes me like a farmer filling his hungry belly by eating up all his seeds for next year's crop.

Discuss.Brown's plan to lower oil prices by increasing North Sea production. Like eating the seed to stop the famine?
You've answered your own question better than I couldBrown's plan to lower oil prices by increasing North Sea production. Like eating the seed to stop the famine?
Gordon Brown said yesterday that the Labour Party is doing everything it can to ease the problem.

';Lads, can you pump a bit more oil?'; - seems to me that if that's everything he can do we have a more serious problem than I thought we did!!

The problem (forgive me if I'm wrong) is not that there isn't enough oil it's that he taxes it too much - maybe instead of his (in)action to date he might like to think about reducing the tax on oil.

    Can't afford to?

Low unemployment (he said) = less unemployment benefits

Less smokers = less cost to the NHS (he said)

Oil prices increase = more VAT for the Government

Ten years of ';reducing waste in Government'; (he said) = billions to spare

Come on, Gordon; what's the next excuse for mismanagement going to be????
Feckin strange this comment by Brown - especially when 60% of current North Sea production is being exported!!!!
I thought there was hardly anything left in the north sea.
Good old Gordon Brown. Cheerfully ignoring the issue that affects everyone right now for something that will affect us in the future. Getting extra oil out of the North Sea will not lower prices. The amount of overproduction that could be supplied will not even begin to dent the world market.

I'm surprised, really. Given that the government justifies fuel tax by calling it a tax on carbon emmisions, I'm amazed that they're encouraging oil production.

Given that up where my parents live petrol was, a month ago, 拢1.32 per litre and is probably more now, I'm sure the locals will be utterly delighted that Brown's great idea is not to reduce tax on fuel but to increase production... which will do precisely f' all for anyone except the government.

Funnily enough, the oil he's busily getting out will create millions more in tax paid directly into the Treasury. But will the Chancellor cut fuel tax? Will he shite. He'll delay his two pence on a litre tax rise for a while and claim it's highly generous. Then he'll shove it on later as quietly as possible
You should leave no well untapped.
Instead of increasing production we should stop selling it abroad,It belongs to the UK.
We suffer the same mentality here in the U.S.A. They want to drill in Alaska. Like that's really going to help.

You're right. It's scrapping the bottom of the barrel.
When it is boiled down!It is this political cretin Gordon Brown trying to look good on the National and International scene! You can only ease the oil problem when! The Middle East and Venezuala boost production and the US dollar goes up in value!I agree with the questioner! He is approaching in his usual way!Wrong!!
The point is that there is NO shortage of crude oil in the world

at the moment. There ARE supply issues, with countries like

Nigeria and Venezuela and there is a chronic shortage of refinery capacity. There are also many other factors affecting price, but in the case of the PM, like Tesco, every little helps!

I have a 2000 volkswagon beetle and my oil lite keeps beeping while i'm driving, but not when i stop, help!

I get regular oil changes and all I hear is that I may need a new o ring, or that it could be the sensor, bottom line nobody seems to know and the beeping is driving me mad. I don't want to be taken advantage of as I have already give the dealership over $1'000.I have a 2000 volkswagon beetle and my oil lite keeps beeping while i'm driving, but not when i stop, help!
I would be willing to bet VW hasn't changed much since the early 90's. I own a '92 Jetta that did that same thing and scared the hell out of me the first time the buzzer went off. I noticed the engine still ran fine with no noise though. There are 2 sending units, a primary for the light or gauge, and a secondary on the head for the buzzer. replace them both and you should be happy again.I have a 2000 volkswagon beetle and my oil lite keeps beeping while i'm driving, but not when i stop, help!
It also sounds like you need to run an electrical diagnostic that you can get at any auto shop (it should cost $60-100). That should let you know or rule out any electrical problem versus a mechanical problem. It's all about process of elimination.
    bust the oil light. =)

7 More dead American Invaders in Iraq. Will this stop Bush's oil theft?

Pfff, I seriously doubt Bush cares about them. Does America?7 More dead American Invaders in Iraq. Will this stop Bush's oil theft?
There is no oil theft, and yes he cares.7 More dead American Invaders in Iraq. Will this stop Bush's oil theft?
There is no oil theft? hahahahahahahaha. You should maybe type 'Unmetered Oil in Iraq' into a search engine...

Bush doesn't give a rat's *ss about any of our troops, they are toys and props to him. He'll lie right to their faces and the American people and not blink an eye. His whole 'I might bring some of you troops home if things get better soon!' was such a lie it's not even funny. Even his own staff have come out and said it's a lie. He's literally holding our troops lives out like a carrot on a stick.

If you still support Bush and this fiasco, SIGN UP AND GO FIGHT. Oh that's right, you have better things to do right? Like telling us all how great the worst President ever is really doing.... Good grief.
Your rhetoric is quiet old and boring. Once again...THERE IS NO STOLEN OIL, AND YES, HE CARES ABOUT OUR SOLDIERS AND CARES ABOUT EVERY ONE, INCLUDING LITTLE YOU
    What Oil? Where is it?
Invaders! And you will later pretend to say you care about the troops. Save it for your loony friends.
I seriously doubt anything short of Impeachment will stop them now, they've got their claws on Iraq's oil and it's doubtful anything will stop their murderous rampage now..

I just recently added motor oil to my car. Afterwards, I noticed that the car shakes whenever I stop at red li?

sounds like your car is happy. take it to lunch.maybe a drive in movie.I just recently added motor oil to my car. Afterwards, I noticed that the car shakes whenever I stop at red li?
Probably it is a coincidence, that now your car finally needs a tuneup so badly that it completely misses on some of the cylinders. Or possibly something worse is happening, which a good tuneup will clarify, as not fixing that shaking at idle.I just recently added motor oil to my car. Afterwards, I noticed that the car shakes whenever I stop at red li?
    check your engine mounts

The outcry is over why hasn't the US captured or killed Bin Laden and the Al Qaeda in Afghanistan. They are the ones responsible for 9-11.

(lol)

A ';relationship';only exists when all parties involved get something out of it, to their mutual benefit.

The only ones benefitting from this ';relationship'; is Saudi Arabia and Big Oil. The only reason Big Oil is still in the relationship is because of the obscene profits generated, as well as S.A.'s royal promises to not Nationalize the Oil Industry, as Iran did (even though Arabian oil is, in fact ';Federalized';, the Kings in charge of it have promised to continue to sell it [at their price]- for the immediate future, at least).

And the worldwide consumer, is he and she benefitting from this ';relationship';? Well, let's see.

We are forced, due to urban sprawl and, at least in the US, the stupid idea that your car is your independance, to buy, own and maintain a car. We have been forced to buy a product which uses a dangerous and highly explosive (not to mention noxious and poisonous and FINITE) fuel source, the product is made so badly (on purpose), the average life expectancy of a $35,000 auto in the US is 5 years or less; and actually, like razors with disposable blades, Detroit could GIVE the cars away, the cars are only the means they use to force you to continuously purchase gasoline to keep the cars running.

Thousands die each year in car accidents. Oil spills and oilpump fires destroy, or permanently damage fragile ecosystems. The pollutants formed from imperfectly converting hydrocarbon mass to energy in millions of cars everyday kill hundreds of young, old and sick people each year. Some days are so bad in major metropolitan areas, city governments are forced to broadcast smog alerts, warning their residents to avoid breathing the air anymore than is absolutely necessary.

Not to mention the fact that, if the planet does not begin to wean itself off the Petroleum Teat RIGHT NOW, by finding alternate ways to heat, cool and transport ourselves and our goods, when there IS no petroleum left, we will be back in the Stone Age, as no petroleum also means no PLASTICS of any kind. No grocery bags, but that doesn't matter as there will be no groceries (fertilizers are made with petroleum products too). No way to keep meat cold, so we go back to salt curing meat to keep it. No way to keep warm in very cold climates, so mass migrations (and the attendant deaths) will be made every 4 months, to farm in the temperate areas and move temporarily live in the not too hot, not too cold areas.

But who cares, right? That's a problem for our great-grandchildren to deal with. Of course, WE will be dead and gone; but your children's children (I have none) will curse your names for our wasteful ways. But again who cares? Keep driving your Hummers (another image which comes to mind is Nero playing his violin while Rome burned).

As far as S.A. goes, most of the hijackers were from S.A., most of the money which financed their attacks came from S.A., and the Bush government cares so much about the families of the victims of Sept 11, the UNITED STATES Justice Dept blocked the families from suing the families of the S.A. terrorists.

Kinda makes you wonder who our President really works for.

He'll send BILLIONS in aid money to Iraq for re-building and what not, losing hundreds of millions in the process, but to bail out US mortgage holders, the people who VOTED Bush into office? Not one thin dime of help. Again, just who does Bush WORK for again?

Oil Countries to stop using US Dollar, is this the end of US Economic domination?

    http://www.independent.co.uk/news/busine鈥?/a>

Russia, China, France, Brazil and Gulf oil states Abu Dhabi, Kuwait and Qatar have held secret meetings to phase out the use of the US dollar for a basket of currencies including euros and gold to purchase oil.

The dollar domination is over, mainly due to the Financial Crisis that swept the world in Sept 2008. The reliance on dollars and bad US economic policies that led to the crisis, hurt economies worldwide. The move is an effort to insulate themselves from future US economic crisis.

Does this spell the end of US Economic domination?Oil Countries to stop using US Dollar, is this the end of US Economic domination?
';Pigeon-carcass hairpiece'; is exactly right. The first answerer couldn't be more wrong. This is NOT a partly line problem. This is built up from years and years. Obama did not cause this.

Bluchristy is right, we better get our act together!!!!Oil Countries to stop using US Dollar, is this the end of US Economic domination?
    Texas Parrot = Moron.

Spending does not inflate the dollar.

    Wasted spending DOES.

Printing money to deal with economic crises, DOES; like the kind that was done by the Fed all last year.

There are two solutions: 1) avoid avoidable economic crises 2) Dispense with the poor CONTARD investments (tax cuts for the rich, wasting surpluses, and pointless nation-building wars)

@TBHR = None of the oil in the United States is economical to extract. FACT.
'US economic domination' has been dead for years. Whilst the US economy is crumbles China grows ever stronger %26amp; the European Union continue to retain the 1# spot comfortably. The United States will eventually recover from this massive downturn, but it will have to settle for a distant 3rd place, not helped by the $12 trillion national debt.
Our domination was already in question. Our economy is no longer one that produces anything, we just shuffle money around until the bubble bursts. All our manufacturing is out sourced. Once the world decides to no longer finance our debt it is all over with.
This is why, the collapse of the US dollar under Bush--

Chart of the declining value of the US dollar against the Euro:

    http://www.urbandigs.com/us-dollar-vs-eu鈥?/a>

In 2002 the US dollar was worth E1.10, by the middle of last year it had dropped to about 65 cents, and its still hovering around the level right now.

So other countries no longer view it as very stable currency in which to invest.
    The empire is collapsing.
    That will certainly destabilize prices!

Maybe SOMEBODY should wake up and start producing our own! We have more oil in or around the U.S. than all of the middle east, but not enough brains to use it!!
Nope. It means we need to make oil obsolete and then who sives a shi4.
Yup. And it means higher gas prices for us.
I think we here in the USA need to get our act together and start making alternative energy a lot cheaper .
It sure does. Obama has made the dollar so weak with his uncontrolled spending and the fact that he is printing money faster than they can cut down the trees to do it. Pretty soon they will only be printing money on one side.

Why isn't Brazil's ethanol fuel policy being used as a global model to stop dependence on oil and petrol?

Monopoly, Marketing, Money. Who are the biggest GAS distributors, belongs to wich country?

And it is worst than that.

I'm a Brazilian and i'm living in Europe.

At end of 80's Brazil has 80% of its cars running by Ethanol. After that, GAS decrease prices and Brazil left this habit to behind until 4 years ago, when everything started again.

USA has and specific law that require a minimum of Ethanol within their GAS - it isn't being acomplished because they are not prepared to produce too much ethanol and are not prepared to give their money to countries in development.

In Brazil, Volkswagen already build an engine that works with both kind of fuels. My father has one and it works perfectly.

Everything is a matter of hipocrisy and global domination. Why isn't Brazil's ethanol fuel policy being used as a global model to stop dependence on oil and petrol?
because oil compaines have a powerful lobby....

Why doesn't the USA stop being so dependent on oil?

Why can't the government help us find another source of energy? The gas prices are expensive now. why can't the government help us lower the gas prices? Why doesn't the USA stop being so dependent on oil?
The government has been working to keep prices high. Haven't you heard about the efforts to drill off-shore and in Alaska being shot down by environmental extremists and their Democratic allies? When is the last time you heard of a nuclear power plant being built? Turning food, and land used to grow food into ';renewable'; energy sources may not turn out to be so bright. We've already seen the impact of that on our pocket books. (Did you know that the government subsidizes the corn to alcohol industry?) Other things will take time to develop, like decades.

Even today, there is still a hefty accumulation of taxes on gasoline that don't have to be there. State and Federal legislatures can reverse that if they wish. Why don't they? Gasoline isn't a luxury item, it is something necessary for the common man.Why doesn't the USA stop being so dependent on oil?
IT IS NOT THE GOVERNMENTS JOB TO REDUCE COSTS OR FIND NEW SOURCES OF ENERGY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! they only keep screwing up the economy and research and development by levying taxes and fines on it. check out what your precious government wants to do now.. institute another 40 cent per gallon tax on gas to repair our national highways....PA already charges 78 cents per gallon in taxes and our roads still suck
Too many people stand to make money in the short term off oil
Use your own oil reserves and the gas prices you are ranting about will surely drop to a cent only!...but i understand why your country is hesitant to exhaust your oil reserves---500 years or less from now all oil reserves in the middle east will be gone...just imagine what will happen to these countries whose economy is dependent on oil?...your ';suffering'; now will be a blessing later--for US of A will continue to dominate the world in another 500 years!....so, let's all exhaust the mideast oil reserves now if you dream of US's world dominion for another millennium!....lol!
mate, we are wh0res to the arab pimps
The USA did have the opportunity to do just that, but it stopped building nuclear power plants in the 1970s, thanks in large part to the efforts of environmentalists.
Too many powerful industries make money off the current petroleum centered economy. Even a no-brainer like more mass transit = less highway construction faces stiff opposition from dozens of industries dependent on the car-centric system: auto makers, insurers, glass, rubber, repair shops, rent a car, fast food, real estate development, DUI school, DUI lawyers, gas stations, auto parts stores, parking garages, and more.
Because most of the people in the upper levels of government are still making money off of oil. Only when that money runs out will they do something different.
Because for decades the oil and coal companies have dictated US energy policy to serve their own interests.
because the tree huggers would rather go fight a war in the middle east than to screw up the elk mating season in anwar, alaska. there is enough oil in anwar that we wouldn't have to import another drop of oil from saudi arabia for the next 30 years. imagine if we cut pull our troops from midde east and around the world to protect our ';interests';. if we pulled our troops home, we would save 1 trillion dollars per year. do you know how much the irs brings in every year. yep, 1 trillion dollars. sounds like a nice swap huh? imagine, stopping the hatred brought on to the US by stopping the empire we are building around the world, getting rid of the irs and getting energy independence all at once. welcome to idea of the ron paul revolution.
    Yes.

BECAUSE OIL IS THE CHEAPEST AND MOST ECONOMICAL.

Alternative Sources of Energy is a BIG HOAX.

You'll find out just like I did. With Westar and Wind Power.

    IT COSTS MUCH MORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think it should be up to the people to create alternate fuel and cars that run on it.

the government should stay out of it. why do you people always want the government to help? help yourselves damn't.
No matter what we will never be dependent on Oil it has so many uses and it will take years before we can find replacements here are its uses.

Ethane and other short-chain alkanes which are used as fuel

    Diesel fuel (petrodiesel)

    Fuel oils

    Gasoline

    Jet fuel

    Kerosene

    Liquid petroleum gas (LPG)

    Natural gas

Generally used in transportation, power plants and heating.

Petroleum vehicles are internal combustion engine vehicles.

Certain types of resultant hydrocarbons may be mixed with other non-hydrocarbons, to create other end products:

Alkenes (olefins) which can be manufactured into plastics or other compounds

Lubricants (produces light machine oils, motor oils, and greases, adding viscosity stabilizers as required).

Wax, used in the packaging of frozen foods, among others.

Sulfur or Sulfuric acid. These are a useful industrial materials. Sulfuric acid is usually prepared as the acid precursor oleum, a byproduct of sulfur removal from fuels.

    Bulk tar.

    Asphalt

Petroleum coke, used in speciality carbon products or as solid fuel.

    Paraffin wax

Aromatic petrochemicals to be used as precursors in other chemical production
Why can't a junkie get off heroin?

What happens when you get between a junkie and his supply?
That is not the governments job. Why don't you find a way smartass?
Ok, you go first, stop driving. Stop using electricity. The rest of us will see how you did it and copycat your efforts.

Captain Kirk and Scotty took all the Dilithium crystals when they began their voyage. We will have to wait until they return with a new source for them.

The government is NOT the source of money, even though they do print it. If they just printed up an extra hundred trillion and gave it to us, then a loaf of bread would cost $100. That was Jimmy Carter's problem, he didn't even come close to understanding how the economy worked.
It's a vicious cycle of dependence.
This seems like a logical, intelligent thing to do. You have to remember, though, that oil men run our country and have for some time now. The more the oil supply dwindles, the higher the price climbs for working people, the more money they are able to suck out of us. Eventually the lack of oil will destroy our economy. We don't just depend upon it for heat and fuel--nearly every piece of plastic crap you buy at Walmart is petroleum based. The stagnant economy we have been living with for years now is nothing compared to what lies ahead. But by then the oilmen will be have their fortunes and will be insulated against us rabble.
There HAVE been other sources found...like water engines...but either the patents get confiscated via GM (no kidding..an IMT kid created the engine) or the guy ends up dead a few days before it went to production.

Put it simply, the Government doesn't want to because they are making MASSIVE profit off of the backs of the people. It is like asking: ';Why would the politicians take money from their own pocket?'; They wouldn't ever do that.
OIL INVESTORS IN THE '; GOOD OLE USA '; never wanted us to be independent of foreign oil- THAT';S HOW THEY MAKE THEIR MILLIONS. (GOD KNOWS THAT THE OIL COMPANIES AREN';T MAKIN' A PROFIT ). THE CURRENT ADMINISTRATION HAS HEAVY INVESTMENTS IN THE OIL INDUSTRY . Does '; BURGER KING '; tell ya to eat at '; PIZZA HUT '; ? WHEN YOU BUY GASOLINE, THEY GET RICH .
Because big oil is in bed with the federal government, they have some of the highest paid lobbyists in the industry and they make sure they get the results they want.

We have had the perfect opportunity during the fuel emabargo of the 1970's and blew it. That should have been the final straw. After the fuel embargo of the 1970's Brazil found alternate energy sources for fuel and now they aren't as dependent on foreign oil as we are.

The second reason is our material capitalist lifestyle, where advertisers convince us that we need that SUV or sports car so our neighbors won't laugh at us or think poorly of us.

How do we live in a world where one person can stop all oil drilling?

How can one member of congress, Nancy Palosi, stop all chances of oil being drilled for. How does the House Majority Leader have the power to hold up all voting on oil drilling. As far as I remember they are there to keep order and guide regular procedures. Why does she have the power the president does to shut down a bill. How do we live in a world where one person can stop all oil drilling?
    We don't.

    But answer me this:

How can we live in a world where a very small handful of dim, selfish, lazy, over-indulgent uber-consumers are simply unable to grasp the simple concept that THE OIL IS GOING TO RUN OUT ONE DAY so isn't the smart thing to do would be to prepare for that eventuality?

Instead of whining and sobbing and stamping your feet that the grown-ups won't allow you to keep shooting up heroin?

Allegorically speaking, that is.How do we live in a world where one person can stop all oil drilling?
We don't live in a world where one person can stop all oil drilling. Oil is still being drilled in many, many parts of the world, including our own country. Nancy Pelosi is just prohibiting the drilling of oil in our national parks and heavy tourist destinations. Allowing oil to be drilled in our national parks totally defeats the purpose of having national parks. The tourism dollars generated by certain coastal areas is much greater than any economic boost from oil being drilled. She has greater power than the president in terms of shutting down a bill because she is Speaker of the House, and Congress is where bills are created. The president's power lies in enforcing laws, not creating and passing them.
Pelosi's refusal to allow debate and voting on new leases and drilling proposals is a disgrace. This is what happens when you elect Democrats. They claim to be for the little guy until the little guy shows up, and then they step on the little guy because he is so, well, little. John McCain has good ideas to jumpstart American energy production. Let's get someone in the White House who will punch Nancy Pelosi's lights out. With Democrats in control of both Congress and the White House, energy prices will skyrocket in the coming years. That is what they want. It is our job to prevent it from happening.
She is a liberal socialist democrat whose inalienable, inherited right is to be the most powerful person in the world. She and she alone is going to rule this world and everyone will be happy when she does.

I just don't know how her constituents can continue to vote that stupid woman into office. If she does get re-elected, I bet the democrats will remove her as speaker. They need to get SOMETHING done for a change.
How do we live in a world........? We were born here, sweetheart. And it's called ';pecking order';... aka democracy. If you know anything about government at all, you would realize that Nancy didn't make that decision all by herself, nor does she, all by herself, have ';the power'; to shut down a bill. And if you are of voting age, you had as much ';power'; as anyone else when you marked your ballot.
Oil companies already have tons of places they could drill for oil, but what incentive do they have?

If I was selling oil for $120 a barrel and someone told me I could work harder and drill for more to drop the price to $60 a barrel, why would I, as a profit making company, want to do that?
She can't politicians are selfish its all smoke and mirrors to us and for their fellow politicians its you scratch my back i'll scratch yours. don't listen to them the Government will ALWAYS hide the truth from the people.
I think it goes by votes...

Even if one vote is not counted, it wont happen. Everyone has to agree on the same thing.

And why would you want more oil to be drilled? Are you war hungry or something...
Other countries are drilling more. Even the greenest of the green countries. Pelosi, Gore, Obama and Reid want Americans to suffer.
if all oil stop drilling today, will be easily ended in WWIII, because currently the world is still depend on oil to function their business.
oil companies drill oil, individuals don't..... oil companies have no incentive to drill right now and won't....
    One Day at a time.

BTW did all drilling stop. Will the gas rig near my house be demobilizing and capping the well they started.
';One person'; did NOT stop it....The PNAC did it many years ago when they got Ronnie and DADDY bush in the White House. The facts are out there, all one has to do is seek them out.
It is the way the rules of the House work. Not a thing we can do about it, unless one lives in CA.
Becasue Nancy Pelosi anbd the rest of her ilk have decided to let us eat cake.
It's not just one person, she represents me and a lot of other people. We think you should stop using your damn SUV!
We don't. The oil companies have plenty of US land leases they can drill on. But they choose not to.

What's a good natural medicine to stop toenail fungus? I have tried tea tree oil with no results.?

Fungus infestations can refer to athlete's food. The most common cause of these infestations is the destruction of beneficial bacteria by antibiotics, drugs, or radiation, resulting in the takeover of undesirable fungi. Besides being taken as a drug, antibiotics often are found in the food supply because antibiotic supplements are given to animals as treatment for diseases and also as a food additive. People with any type of fungal infestation should establish an adequate diet, including generous amounts of the A, B, and C vitamins, raw fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and yogurt or acidophilus. Armoatherapy includes lavender, myrrh, patchouli, and tea tree. What's a good natural medicine to stop toenail fungus? I have tried tea tree oil with no results.?
Anything you use take time. You must be patient and threat it for weeks, even months( till 6 months). Good luck! What's a good natural medicine to stop toenail fungus? I have tried tea tree oil with no results.?

    Vick Vapor Rub..REALLY! It works.
Oddly enough, my mother-in-law just passed this odd bit of trivia to me a few weeks ago. She had the same problem and SWEARS by good ol' Vick's mentholated rub. The stuff mom rubbed all over us when we were sick years ago?

As I'm told, rub the Vick's on the surface of your toenails and under them too. I'd recommend socks until it soaks in! Hope it works for you...it worked for her.
A fungal culture will show whether a fungal nail infection is present and what type of fungus it is. A fungal culture is typically done when a diagnosis is unclear or when treatment of a fungal infection has not been successful. If uncommon fungi are identified, the infection can then be treated with different medication. To get rid of a fungal nail infection you will usually have to take tablets, sometimes for up to six months. Fingernail infections tend to clear up quicker than toenail infections. You may only need to take tablets for six weeks for a fingernail infection. You'll probably need to have a sample of nail sent to the laboratory for tests to make sure you have a fungal infection. The tablets can sometimes damage your liver (though this is rare) and you may have a test to check your liver is healthy before starting treatment. There are also creams, lotions and varnishes for infected nails. But normally doctors recommend tablets for this condition, although nail varnish might be prescribed if the infection is mild. If your nail infection doesn't bother you, you may wish to leave it alone.

    Treatments that work:-

Itraconazole tablets (brand name Sporanox): These are antifungal tablets. They treat nail infections caused by a fungus.

Terbinafine tablets (brand name Lamisil): These are antifungal tablets. They treat nail infections caused by a fungus.

Treatments that are likely to work:-

Fluconazole tablets (brand name Diflucan): These are antifungal tablets. They treat infections caused by a fungus. But fluconazole isn't usually given to people with nail infections.

    Treatments that need further study

Griseofulvin tablets (brand name Grisovin): Griseofulvin is an antibiotic and doesn't work as well as some other tablets against fungal infections.

Ketoconazole tablets (brand name Nizoral): Ketoconazole is an antifungal drug that isn't used very often because it can cause liver damage.

Creams, lotions and varnishes:- These include amorolfine (brand names Loceryl and Curanail) and tioconazole (Trosyl).

Many plants have natural antifungal properties. For example: Neem tree, tea tree, red thyme, lemon oil. These properties help plants, particularly those native to the humid Tropics, protect themselves against fungal invasion and disease. These essential oils, help eliminate nail fungus with none of the dangerous side effects seen in conventional medications and they have been tested in medical labs and proven effective to kill fungus infections. Herbal preparations are best used as early as possible where their preventative qualities help to manage long term recurring infections. Customer testimonials do report effective and satisfactory treatment. It can help some people to change their diet. This is worth considering especially if you have suffered from other fungal infections such as candida, vaginitis or jock itch. Avoid bread and yeast products (including beer). Some people have found taking supplements to be helpful in boosting the immune system.

Acidophilus- Take yogurt with live cultures or acidophilus capsules.

Beta Carotene- 25,000 IU of beta carotene.

Garlic- To boost the immune system and ward off fungal infections, take 6-8 capsules of garlic daily.

    Vitamin B-complex -Take tablets daily.

Vitamin C -Take 500-3,000 mg of vitamin C in divided doses.

Vitamin D and E -Take 400 IU each of vitamins D and E.

Zinc -Take 15-50 mg of zinc. More than 15 mg of zinc should not be taken for more than a week or so without medical supervision as it may interfere with absorption of other minerals.

Hope this is of interest and assistance

  • Since SUVs burn too much oil & pollute more would you stop buying em if you have a friend with lung cancer?

Why even wait for the cancer? Unless you spend a good part of your driving time off road (making the clearance and power necessary) while also carrying at least four passengers (making the large interior necessary), get something smaller, and save a lot of money on the $6.00 a gallon gas we'll soon be buying.Since SUVs burn too much oil %26amp; pollute more would you stop buying em if you have a friend with lung cancer?
You are making the mistake of lumping ALL SUV's together and branding them bad, bad.

The fact is that there are MANY SUV's with VERY efficient 4 and 6 cyl engines, so shut up already.

And to answer your question: NO! 99% of the people with lung cancer get it from smoking/smokersSince SUVs burn too much oil %26amp; pollute more would you stop buying em if you have a friend with lung cancer?
Not all SUV's do this, and some of them are much more environmentally friendly than your ';average'; sedan. Examples are Honda CRV, Toyots RAV4, and Subaru Forrester.

Except in extreme cases, people wouldn't get lung cancer just from SUV's. Have you driven behind a city diesel bus or big dump truck lately?? They pollute FAR more.
I wouldn't buy an SUV unless i had many children to haul around. If i did have one and a friend had lung cancer, I don't think me getting rid of mine would solve the air pollution problem.. there are still way too many other forms of air pollution and also way too many trunks and suvs
SUV's don't burn oil jackass, study the subject matter before you ask stupid questions.
I don't buy them anyway because I can't afford to pay $75 every time I pull up to the pump.
I would stop way before that happens. For the health of both flora and fauna. Peace.
SUV=Stupid Useless Vehicle. However, they do not cause cancer. Smoking and Radon gas are the top 2 causes of Lung Cancer. Drive Station Wagons instead of SUVs. Better handling, mileage, comfort, safety, and they look cool...
lung cancer has many causes...not just pollution

What stops nations from drilling oil or gas in international waters ?

I thought nations did drill for oil in international waters, but if they don't it would probably be because the waters to deep, pirates, or some enviromental law. What stops nations from drilling oil or gas in international waters ?
    Nothing.

All nations have a theoretical zone of exclusive economic use extending 200 miles from their shores.

That portion of our own shores have a lot of oil reserves, and our own stupid liberals pass idiotic laws stopping us from drilling our own oil so that we can preserve starfish that some cornball fake scientists claims is endangered.

Nobody ever stops to think ';what if the cornball is lying?'; What if he actually never counted the starfish? What stops nations from drilling oil or gas in international waters ?
That oil belongs to the Magma Men.
it's generally to deep and expensive to get at
    Left-wing liberal,radical environmentalist whackos.

    Seriously though.......Expense.
Apparently, nothing. I read where China is going to drill for oil in the gulf of Mexico, close to Cuba. They plan to put the pumping stations on Cuba, then sell the oil to us.

just a thought is it a hot engine light or oil light, cause sometimes they are combined and when you stop your engine isnt getting cooled by outside air. asimple check to see is put your heater on high and stop at a light or just stop if the light dont come on it could be your thermostat or water pump. if its not that get it put on a machine to see if it is more serious
I almost bought one awhile back...Did you check it out yourself or are you just going by what they tell you?? I would check the dipstick myself.. Also make sure from a professional, that the correct dipstick is in this engine. There has been cases where a wrong dipstick was used and gave a false reading.
I know u said it has regular services performed. But check the oil level, first, anyway.Check oil pressure with scanner. If u have one. If not than just install an oil Gage at the sending unit. If psi around 30 at idle OK. Replace sending unit.
could be a bad sending unit but I would have the oil pressure checked with a mechanical gauge while your changing it

Why can't America become oil independent and stop depending on thugs to sell us oil?

Venezuela's Chavez says oil headed for $100 barrel

    Why don't we do this?

Flex Fuel makes Brazil Oil Independent

http://skeptically.org/oil/id12.htmlWhy can't America become oil independent and stop depending on thugs to sell us oil?
We have lots of options. but most of them are met with resistance by a special interest group.

    We could.

Drill Alaska. ( Animal rights groups and environmentalist.)

Nuclear Power plants ( Environmentalist who are afraid of nuclear power even though there has never been a nuclear power accident on American soil and Aircraft carriers and submarines are run on it)

Bio diesel ( Oil companies, food industry, practical reasons)

    Wind Farms ( Ted Kennedy)

There are many many ways to make ourselves energy independent, but there is alot of opposition to it. Some are reasonable opposition some are simply stupidity. Why can't America become oil independent and stop depending on thugs to sell us oil?
I think one of the hidden reasons why we still cling on to oil is because of the value of our dollar. Now that we are off the gold standard, what do we have to back the falling dollar? The two main commodities that are priced in US dollars are gold and OIL. If the Iranians get their wish and oil was priced in Euros, that would severely damage the strength of the dollar. That is one of the reasons why we desperately cling onto oil.

However, as much as I want to get off of oil, flex fuels are not a panacea either. The problem is that it takes things we already need in order to convert that to fuel. We don't have enough farmland to produce corn or any other crops to be used to make flex fuels, at least enough to satisfy our energy needs. Secondly, these are crops that we use as either food stuffs or to feed cattle. That would jack the prices of just about all food up. Also, oil has an efficient delivery system. These bio fuels don't have the infrastructure to transport these fuels efficiently and cost effectively.

I agree with you 200% on our need to get off of foreign oil and even oil. I don't think flex fuels, could do that alone. Maybe flex fuels with a combination of other alternative energies.
Because our politicians are bought and paid for by Big Oil. There is no shortage of oil. Our politicians use the excuse of environmentalism so nobody is allowed to get the oil out of the ground. Monopolies can only exist with the help of government.

We need to return to the free market. Free market nations don't have ';Energy Policies';, let alone a Department of Energy. Greed and corruption runs Washington.

When we get government out of oil production, you'll see prices dropping. The free market keeps prices low, government managed monopolies keep them high.
Energy companies are making record profits, they have no incentives to develop alternatives to oil.
too much money in keeping it they way it is now lots of huge company's would go out of business if we did and they own the lobbyist
Has to do with a lot of regulations and the environment and profit. But regardless, I agree with you, we need to be doing our own thing.
Because Cheney invited the oil company CEOs to write the energy policy and there is no way they are going to add any money in the policy for researching alternative fuels.

And you have two oil shills as President and VP.
Because that would hurt the profit of the oil companies...

That's it -- bottom line, their profits (and their lobbyists) are what keep us oil-dependent.
Because the tree hugging liberal hippies won't let us drill in Alaska or Florida.
because liberals won't let us drill our own oil and build more refineries.
I was honestly shocked to learn that Conoco Philips and Exxon Mobile refused to bow to Chavezs nutty demands and have begun a pull out of what amounts to 15 billion dollars in investments. Now I feel a little less pissed as I pump. Can you imagine how bad Chavez must be that our own oil cartel wont do buisness with him. Incredible. I say the development of oil independent technology has to be driven by consumer demand. I will tell you this. I am in the market for a new cart and have already decided I will not accept less that 30 MPG fuel eficiency. This is triple what I get in my pickup. I still need the truck for work and horses but I will drive the car whenever I can. Any recommendations?
Uh....Well Colorado,Texas and Alaska have more oil then the entire Middle East, Afirca and Venezuela....Oh, but that's right. We are not allowed to Drill here anymore. We haven't built a Refinery in 40 years.

Goota keep the Great Horned Owls happy though!!!!!
They can talk all the **** they want, when it comes down to it they need us as much as we need them. They need our money just as much as we need their oil, its a mutual understanding.
Because the right wing gets their orders from the oil companies--that's why.

And their solutions (e.g. ';tap the ANWR';) are nonsensical. Even if we did--it wouldn't get--or keep--us independant for more than a few years--quite aside from the ecological issues the right sneers at.

But--let someone try to et the car companies to improve gas mileage (which is the same it was 25 years ago--and we had the technology to do better THEN--much less now) and the rneocons start whining they have a ';right'; to drive gas hogs--and then whine about dependance on foreign oil.

Yet that one change could make us oil independant--permanantly. Bottom line: having your cake and eating it too DOES NOT WORK.
    ';Its all about the Benjamins.';

No one wants a refinery in their backyard. No company wants to spend a few billion dollars to get one up and running to reduce profit. Current politicians are kept in power with oil lobbyist money. Switching to a flex fuel infrastructure would cost a buttload.
Because the leader of our country has friends that run the oil companies. And we can't cut back because of so many people driving gas guzzling vehicles. Besides Brazil uses sugar cane which is cheaper and more effeicent than corn or wheat so it would probably cost more

edit; I'll be honest I am an anti-capitalist. I see the profit by a few with a whole lot of suffering for the many as an incurable evil...

Capitalism requires a certain personality type. The heavy handed Megalomaniac does well in the capitalist model because of a completely selfish internal drive... the leaders of Industry and banking historically are reputed ';bad men'; no one makes any excuse for it..anymore than anyone holds the Bush family accountable for their relations to the Bin Laden family, or the Carlisle Group who represent Saudis who we know have contributed to Al-Queada.

I don't Buy the Terrorist Myth for the same reason, extortion through fear.. it's not all that radical of a concept.. It's just as Americans we can't get our heads around the idea that we are Victimized by the very system we are ';trained'; to admire.

Globalism is now eviscerating the American dream, but that is Capitalism in it's purest Darwinian form..

Capitalism eating capitalism, excpt now.. we Americans find ourselves in it's crosshairs..

so.. the good news? after a couple more years of this we will gladly accept socialism fully the way , Norway, Holland and Sweden do now.

and we will be better off for it, for a time, but eventually that capitalist demon will come around again. When will the Justice Dept. step in and stop big oil?
Oil companies are there to give a product and make money. If there was no demand than the prices wouldnt be so high. Whether big or small oil companies, the prices will always be big. And it dousnt help that the dollar is declining.

If you propose the government tax the oil companies more, than you will just see oil prices going up even more.

Ending any subsidies for the oil industry would be a good idea. But government interference has always proven to cause more problems.
    You're right.

Lets destroy all businesses who make profits.

Lets have a bunch of companies that loose money. Wait, then the economy will tank and so much for having jobs and our current standard of life.

Over 100 million people have 401K and other savings plans, which invest in corporations. Since oil companies are publiclly taded companies, their profits go into the pockets of those investors. Instead of jumping on Oil Corps, lets invest in new refineries and expand oil exploration. (increase supply)

basic economics show increase in supply will drop prices.
Not going to happen while Bush is still in office.

And honestly, I agree with you, but big oil holds all the cards now. They have completely bought off the govt. and will do whatever they want.

Just keep in mind that big oil influenced the CIA to assassinate the Democratically elected Prime Minister of Iran in 1952 after he nationalized their oil industry. Also, big oil got us into Iraq after Saddam threated to nationalize Iraqi oil and trade in Euros.
So, they're making record profits. That's good for the people whose own stocks, either directly or through 401k's, pension plans or mutual funds. It also supports their R%26amp;D efforts to increase oil production and develop alternative energy sources.

What, pray tell, are they doing that requires the intervention of the DoJ?

There's no law against making a profit.
They are not doing anything wrong. It is not illegal to make money off a commodity and companies are not driving up the cost of oil.

Also, Democrat's richest supporter (Soros) is making money from driving up food prices (commodities) and no one is complaining.
    NEVER
Why didn't Bush ask them to drop their oil prices for U.S. consumers? He seems to look for all the answers in all the wrong places.
The Justice Department is part of the Executive Branch...I wouldn't hold your breath.
Enlist the fox to watch the hen-house, huh?

Yea. That'll go over real well with the best politicians money can buy, let me tell you.
    They won't.

When did you flip flop and become a socialist?
when good judges are on the bench
    I only hope the answer to your question is ';NEVER!';

But judging by all the thumbs down whenever anyone suggests that the market can regulate itself, I'd bet it'll happen sooner than later.

    http://www.econlib.org/library/Columns/y鈥?/a>
the speculative prices are a cause of concern, but thats not really what the issue is.

It has to do with supply and demand....we have to demonstrate the intestinal fortitude as a populace to enact change on our own accord for quite some time now, mostly by design (why do you think so many influential groups divide the populace?)

If we the people actually cut our consumption of oil by 5%, you would be shocked at the reaction from oil companies and our government. Our government knows that as a populace its very hard to mobilize a boycott of any large degree.

And all of this uproar about OPEC is another example of how many of us would rather blame an entity and demand they change, rather than grouping together and truly producing change. Stop driving, heating/cooling, using plastics, etc. as much. Stop purchasing or supporting anything coming from OPEC nations and start using the the very real powers that our populace and market have.

Supply and demand only works when the market lowers demand in an effort to affect the otherside......the power of NO needs to be realized.

    --------------------------------------鈥?br>

Why is everyone so focused on the supply end? Why do you and others expect more out of someone else than you are willing to concede yourself?

You want these companies/nations to increase supply? Well then lower your demand.....force a change. Until they feel a pinch, we'll never be respected....

When a populace acts like 300,000,000 individuals, we are about as threatening as a cockroach.

When a populace acts like one with the strength of 300,000,000....we become the 800 pound gorilla in the room.
I think you are asking the wrong question. you should ask, when is congress going to let the oil Co's drill for new oil and build new refinery's. if these are the problems why does congress keep stopping them? It is not against the law to make money no matter how ridicules the amount is. I don't really like the oil Co's but we'd have a very hard time without them and I like congress less. Be careful whom you blame for our situation, the fault lies with the American people themselves for not paying attention and being so wasteful not the greedy oil Co's and the politicians who love to stick it to us because were to chicken-sh*t to do anything about it.
I don't see anything wrong with them using what's there do you? After all Speculators ARE bringing th price of oil up and that's THE speculators fault not Exxon Mobile. Exxon and Conoco etc. are just charging the market price that speculators are forcing them to buy it for so of course their profits will go up. Exxon is a nasty company which was at one time Standard Oil from the biggest jerk or all Rockefeller BUT I see no problems with them making money off the speculators since it's not their fault.
Lets start off by saying Big Oil does not control demand, they can only ';control'; supply (and I say control loosely). Yes we as humans on this earth need to cut back on our demand on oil in general. So lets look at the supply end.

You want Congress to stop Big Oil, they are already doing that. Here are 10 reason for high gas price, mostly because of Congress.

    1) Congress will not allow Big Oil to add more drilling platforms in the Gulf. Meanwhile countries, like China, are signing 100 year leases on new areas in the Gulf.

    2) Congress will not pull back on Reg's on refineries. That's the reason why Big Oil has to shut down refineries is because of the increase reg's. This is also why Big Oil has not built a new refinery in the US in over 30 years. They are too busy trying to keep the current ones open.

    3) Congress will not allow Big Oil to drill in Alaska. Thanks to the environmentalists. But the new drills are alot more cleaner than they were 40 years ago when when they started to grill in the North Slope.

    4) Congress will not allow Big Oil to Drill off of the NC/SC or California.

    5) Congress just past legislation to sue OPEC. So what do you thing OPEC will do, retaliate? Yes, Big Oil has to purchase oil from OPEC and if OPEC retaliate that the price will go up even more.

    6) Congress will not, at least during the summer months, repeal the Federal tax on Oil/Gas.

    7) Congress mandates that Big Oil must add different types of additives to gas. (each additive cost something).

    8) When new oil is found, the environmentalists prevent the drilling by holding Big Oil in court. We have oil to tap but the courts have them tied up. (thanks again Greenies)

    9) And do not forget about the dollar. The US Dollar currently weak against other forgein currencies. And since the price of oil is based in guess what. . US Dollar, the price will remain high.

    10) There is only so much oil on the planet Earth. Back during the 50's-70's gas as cheap (under $1/gallon). Why? There were Trillions of gallons of oil in the ground with very little demand. Now that demand is up, the current wells are almost tapped out, unless additional wells are drilled.

So when you say Congress needs to do something, they already do it, only the wrong way. And you want them to ';tax'; them from their profit? What are we, the USSR? Is this Communism? Go ahead and tax them, it will only be passed down to the pump eventually which means will be paying even more.

Let's cut the red tape and allow Big Oil to drill.

So what will happen to the oil companies when the US stops using oil?

I know there are others that will be buying the Oil. So will there be a major impact when America stops buying oil from overseas and starts using alternative fuel?

Will it even matter to them?

Do you think we'll find a way to make the types of plastic that need oil to make before the world runs out? (or our supply is cut off? Or price gets too high?)

Is it true that there is only about 10-20 years worth of oil left before we run out?So what will happen to the oil companies when the US stops using oil?
They will end up trying to sell their oil on Ebay :)So what will happen to the oil companies when the US stops using oil?
We will never stop buying oil, as long as there is still oil to buy.

We have probably passed the ';hump'; in world oil production just recently (sometimes called ';Hubbert's Peak';). But there will still be oil for a while.

The problem is, that with more countries becoming developed (China, India, Brazil, Russia) and requiring more oil, and with the continual increase in oil demands by developed countries, the pressure on oil will become greater just as it starts to run out. If we don't have alternative technologies developed by then, we may be in for a pretty hard landing.
i am not concerned with thier buissenss but at least oil producing countries feel secure and iraq will get freedom from america
USA will stop using oil, only when the last barrel of oil supply runs dry, which basically will mean that there will bo no oil left on earths surface, and oil companies wil be either used as musuems or sold in junkyard.

    Thats it.
they will atleast stop st****** it!!!i*** is an eg.
I don't think it'll be an 'all of a sudden' deficit like that.

They'll realize that oil is becoming scarce and like everything else, necessity is the Mother of all invention, I have faith the we'll figure out a different form of energy to use. We have no choice.
They will slowly transition to become the providers of alternative fuel sources. Oil is just an easier way to make a profit. However, faced with extinction they will make the switch to fuels that hurt the environment less.
the oil compines will go broke
they use it for products like vaseline and other stuff.U.S is just a country but there are other naions who use oil too.Asia is a big continenet and it's dramtically rising like China and India.U.S does not have a lot of oil we get it from Saudi Arabia
other countries that cant afford to produce the other products will continue using oil. the u.s. isnt the only country in the world that uses oil
