If exxon and the other major oil producers stopped producing oil to help the enviroment what would happen?

To oil prices and the American way of life.If exxon and the other major oil producers stopped producing oil to help the enviroment what would happen?
';cut down all of its rain-forest';

really John ';All'; of it's rain-forest ?!?!

:)

gee - I didn't hear about that.

you don't have any idea of how much rain-forest Brazil still has do you ? (it figures)

real Answer :

If the oil producers Stopped producing oil for Any reason it would be a economic disaster for the whole world ! ( not just North America ) duh.

We cant stop drilling and pumping (you should know that) we will have to drill and pump till the oil is gone. we don't have any choice because for now the world still runs on oil.

geese - read a book and maybe more people might respond to you questions (if they became more than insipid rants full of insults and ignorance on your part)If exxon and the other major oil producers stopped producing oil to help the enviroment what would happen?
The refineries are the problem, not the producers.
The same thing that is going to happen in Venezeula pretty soon as they realize that when they ';nationalized'; all the oil and infrastructure, they got rid of the INTELLIGENT, KNOWLEDGEABLE people who actually KNOW how to run the damn equipment in favor of socialist government monkeys that don't know what buttons to push.

KABOOM

VIVA LA REVELUCION!!! LOL
oh no, i guess we would have to use the same kind of fuel Brazil uses - ethanol.

if they can, we can.
The same thing that will happen when we run out of oil...which will happen.

I don't think anyone advocates a simple shutoff of oil. What progressives want is a gradual change to renewable and clean energy over time. Why is that so hard to understand? I don't see any positives in fighting that change.
I don't think anyone is asking the oil producers to just stop making their products. We just want to see some progress towards alternatives to gas and oil. If we had a viable alternative fuel, the end of the use of oil could be nearly seamless.

I can't pretend to be a scientist, since I am not one. But if we could at least explore other things before it becomes critical, we have a chance at not going to war for oil. If Europe has cars that run on less gas, why don't we?
