Hippies tried setting that up for the 15th. It's not a good plan, people would just buy fuel on the days before and after. A boycott is not the way to go. I would like to try the national no gas on Sunday law again like they had in the 70's, but i still dont think that would do much. Remember though, every time an American complains about $3+ a gallon gas they're being ignorant to the fact that most European countries are paying around $8.How would you get everyone in the U.S. to stop buying gas, diesel,or any other fuel for the oil co. to notice?
Thats a tough one, what about police and ambulance, fire. How would you get everyone in the U.S. to stop buying gas, diesel,or any other fuel for the oil co. to notice?
essentially.. you can't.
maybe when its more economical to go back to using a horse and buggy....
It starts with you. Go out and buy an electric vehicle. Brag to your friends about how cheap it is to drive and how quiet it is and how you never need to tune it up or change the oil. They will see the wisdom of your ways and get one of their own. Soon everyone will have one and OPEC will be trying to sell sand.
You can't. The problem is OPEC and its monopoly. You need non-OPEC oil to compete against OPEC oil. Then you'll see fair market prices. Almost all cartels are illegal - OPEC is the most prominent cartel that is legal. As such, it cannot be prosecuted against for violations of antitrust laws because of the doctrine of state immunity - OPEC is an organization of sovereign governments.
Americans use a lot of gas because we have a car culture. The car represents freedom and propsperity. The car is a necessity for most Americans. We do not and cannot rely on public transportation unless we live in Manhattan.
Not possible, but if people stopped going as much and car pooled like back in the 70's it would hit them in the pocket. supply and demand, cut the demand and they have no choice but cut the price
You can't. We are too dependent on our vehicles.
Go green.... Go for SOLAR energy.
