How much will we put up with before we use are own oil and stop all this non-sense?

I agree there is enough domestic oil (in Alaska and texas ect...) to keep us going for many years I say we rigg up Alaska and stop putting with this mid-east bsHow much will we put up with before we use are own oil and stop all this non-sense?
This is such a touchy subject, I think the answer is stop using oil period and let's start working on a ';Green'; solution.

I wish more people would watch some of the shows that come on the Science Channel and Discovery, we got bigger fish to fry I think in the very near future. I've got kids, I want them to be healthy and have a healthy planet to enjoy. It is non-sense, the whole mess the government, the world and the earth with everyone on it. Personally, I am scared to death.

Catso, I hear your point, but honestly if the people who were in actual control made the changes necessary to convert to a Green solution for petroleum based products it could be done. There are alternatives for most all petroleum based products. And no, I'm not a hypocrite, I didn't say that I am against people who use oil, because I do as well, what I am saying is that people that do have the ability to make these changes should focus on putting out new products to help American's make positive changes. I do what I can to reduce reuse and recycle, but we can only use what is available to us obviously. For the most part, yes, we are captive to the problem, and that is the problem! How much will we put up with before we use are own oil and stop all this non-sense?
We will put up with it as long as we have people like ';Keeper.';

To Keeper---You can stop using oil this very moment. Anything you own that is made of a petroleum product, get rid of it. Never drive your car or travel in a vehicle which uses an oil product. If you should need to get medical attention, don't.

You have the power to personally stop using all petroleum products---but I'm betting you won't.
At some point the people will reach out to the goverment in a meaningful way, let them know in very clear terms that they want action, and the feds will take back the rule of law and start drilling for oil off the Calif. coast, the Gulf of Mexico, Anwar, and the new oil discovery in N. Dakota, start allowing oil refineries to be built again, atom power plants, and coal to run industry.

So, the Fed. gov takes back the powers it gave to the Sierra Club, code pink, the Reds, and the Greens, and once again takes charge in Washington.
We will NEVER drill our way to energy independence.

To suggest otherwise is to demonstrate a complete lack of understanding of the quantity of oil we import every day.

Other local sources, like shale oil and deep sea rigs in the gulf, have not been exploited because of their enormous cost. Shale oil, for instance, cost nearly $50/barrel to extract, as compared to about $9/barrel for traditional sources. Once the other sources are gone, and we're paying $300/barrel, then they'll be tapping the shale. It it a purely economic decision.
How long till we piss off the middle east and they cut off our oil supply? 3/4th of the world's oil is controled by 3 famalies, 3 extreamly large famalies that are unstable and are quickle burning throgh their welth of money. When they cut us off we have some oil to fall back on, but if we use it not then we are up **** creek. What we need to do is to stop the american oil complanies, Exxon last year in 1 quarter made 10 billion dollars. That is the most any american complany has ever made in 1 quarter, They have to be screwing us over, it is obvious. Think about all of that!
Canada is the number one contributor to the United States for oil currently. Canada entrepreurs in the early 90's invested into sand oil (sand that is saturated in oil) that wouldn't turn profit unless oil was above $80 a barrell.

US is currently looking to a rock oil (not sure but theres ton of it. But refining process not yet made).

Finally, there is tons of oil in Alaska, but environmentalists don't think we should use it. Ironicly, the citizens of Alaska WANT to start drilling. They want to so bad that there is even a local party to secede from the union. Crazy stuff huh?
If we have so much oil where is it...in Texas? That is Bush

Country...it would cost just as much if you bought from him,

that's one big reason the stuff is so expensive now..he's

heading back to Texas not too long from now...he is expecting to go home to a lucrative business when politics

no longer pay off for the family. I'm afraid we will put up with it

for a good long time if we don't find an alternate form of energy.
Unfortunately, we don't have as much of it as other places. We could drill, but it wouldn't be in the best interest of the big oil companies.
go around the world and you will see that america pays the least amount for gas.. if we use our own oil then we will surely be expected from all other companies to export, which will cause too much hostility ultimately leading to a cataclysmic world war
When will the nimby's and the environmental alarmists, allow use to build more neuclear power plants for electricity to make Hydrogen for car fuel.
Tons. The loony left environmentalists would rather starve the world and save a spotted owl, than worry about humans or such crazy stuff like that!
As soon as we can get the EPA and the environmentalist to back up a bit, we will no longer be dependent on foreign oil.
union auto worker, eh?
Gas prices won't go down...This is being done intentionally to reduce consumption in the United States...
We are using it. Won't last more than five years or so under current rates of consumption.
Unfortunely not soon enough.
you don't have much oil let, babe. Crisco maybe, but not oil oil
Because environmental wackos won't let us drill off the coast of Florida and in Alaska
I think we should just all convert to Willie Fuel.
