How can we stop burning carbon NOW? (Oil, gas, coal, etc.)?

Electric power plants put the most carbon mono- and di- oxide as well as other pollutants into the air. Cars could easily be electric except for the political issues. But aircraft use a lot of oil, what about them? I don't think anyone is talking about post-oil aircraft.

Global warming is worsening weather, destroying crops, releasing arctic methane, and will eventually cause an economic and political meltdown as conditions worsen. How can we stop burning carbon NOW? (Oil, gas, coal, etc.)?

Cities can be planned so that people do not need to have a car to have a job or enjoy their communities. Unfortunately, cars are expensive to own and maintain and if you are in need of a job, you are basically burned if you do not own a car. These are some of the ';side effects'; of abuse of oil, carbon and gas ... higher unemployment rates and/or poverty rates.

Even among those that can afford to drive, many would like to use their cars less because the price of gas is going through the roof. There needs to be viable alternatives for everybody.
Global Warming hmmmmm... well well maybe now you want to get off of fossil fuels here are some ways

The man who made the first diesel engine designed it to run off of vegetable oil. that's right the same stuff found in McDonald's fryers in fact you can filter their waste oil and burn it in a car { I have an idea for a system that would eliminate the need for real diesel all together} and then you have ethanol which the US could cheaply use and outproduce the Mideast in fuel. Brazil I think it is has been using at least 85% ethanol mixed fuel for years now and so most of the cars made after 97 {i think} can run pure ethanol STOCK now as for planes I know that we can switch over to ethanol or something else remember all you need for the internal combustion engine to work is a liquid that will explode when vaporised and sparked
how about running ur car on steam??

choo-choo
yup smoking wont kill you either, take the easy way huh? i bet you praised amputation as a cure for cancer. like global warming fanatics i bet you'd think to cure a head cold by guillotine
All fuel is carbon based, including wood.
I would start by ignoring the ';man made global warming'; hype. A couple decades ago they were screaming ';global cooling'; and that hasn't happened either. If you want to do something anyway, I would suggest alcohol based fuels that are made from plants and animal waste. They still emit carbon dioxide, but as other plants grow, they absorb the CO2. So the carbon gets recycled. You can generate some electricity with solar panels and use the sun to heat water. Geothermal energy is another promising technology. By doing those things, you will help make it profitable to develop those technologies, and eventually they will become common place.
